The Bartender is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the social venues of the hotel. Work Environment
Must be able work in a fast-paced environment.Majority of work takes place indoors.Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures - i.e. kitchens, freezers.Physical Demands
Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 pounds of force. frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.Expected Hours of Work
Must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays.Must be flexible to work variable shifts (days, nights, overnights).Ten to twelve hour shifts sometimes required.Education and Experience
Experience as a Bartender required, preferably in a high-volume bar.Experience with computerized cash registers preferred.High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.Basic reading and writing and mathematical skills.Specialized knowledge of bartending and mixing drinks; knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, and non-alcoholic beverages, and designated glassware, preparation methods, and garnishments. Must speak fluent English.Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:
Greet, welcome, and interact with guests in a warm and friendly manner.Take orders, prepare drinks according to recipes and serve all food and beverage requests in the bar.Demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu.Prepare the bar for service by ensuring bar supplies, garnishes, utensils are properly set up in accordance with quality standards.Inventory unused liquor and beverages. Ensure that all liquor is properly secured before, during, and at close of shift.Adhere to all cash handling and credit card policies and procedures. Ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the P.O.S. system.Clean and reset bar top and tables immediately after guests depart.Complete all closing duties and reports as assigned.Secure all liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets and storage areas.Prepare and serve beverages in a prompt and professional manner in accordance with established standards and responsible alcohol service.Greet guests pleasantly as they approach the bar; promote house drinks and utilize up-selling skills when applicable to maximize sales.Adhere to established pouring standards and drink recipes to provide a consistent product to the guests and to control costs.Monitor guest behavior and guest alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of customers; check identification whenever the age of a guest requesting an alcoholic beverage service is questionable.Follow procedures to (1) ensure the security and proper storage of liquor and beverage items, (2) ensure the security of monies, credit and financial transactions if applicable, (3) replenish/requisition supplies in a timely and efficient manner, and (4) to minimize waste and misuse of liquor. Adhere to established safety and sanitation guidelines.Adhere to uniform and grooming standards.Perform other duties or projects as requested by management.Qualifications and Skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Able to work quickly without compromising quality.Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of performance.Attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift.Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.Smart Serve Certificate Required.Previous front-facing guest service experience required.Must read, write and speak the English language fluently.Ensure overall guest satisfaction.Additional Job Information/Anticipated
