Job Description Summary

Take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guests, courteously and efficiently according to hotel standards. Maintain stock/supplies and cleanliness of outlet and equipment.

Job Description

Complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beer and non-alcoholic selections available  respective pricesKnowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine listComplete knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drinkComplete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation for the barMaintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intendedObtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Keep bank secure at all timesObtain outlet keys from securityComplete opening side dutiesCheck quality amount of all bar stock and supplies by using checklistComplete opening inventory sheetRequisition all necessary suppliesTransport supplies from storeroom to barStock ice in barSet up bottles in display cabinet and speed railPrepare garnishesStock glassware and paper suppliesPrepare mixesCheck condition and cleanliness of blender, shaker and other toolsCheck temperature of refrigeration units and glass wash machineChange date on credit card imprinter at opening shift

Pay Range

Inspect cleanliness and condition of bar, guest and service areas; rectify any deficienciesGreet guests and take their orders (food and beverage), utilizing suggestive/upselling techniquesCall orders into Room ServiceEnsure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the P.O.S. system before giving drinks to themPrepare all drink orders for guests according to outlet recipesServe drinks to guestsOpen and serve wine/champagne bottlesAnticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge guests even when busyMaintain positive guest relationsBe familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiryHandle guest complaints following the six step procedures and ensuring guest satisfactionAnswer outlet telephone within 3 rings, using correct greeting and telephone etiquette
