Salary: $120-$140k + 5% bonus
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Bakery Science, or a related field. A Master’s or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline is preferred
Requirements:
+ Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in food science or bakery applications, with a focus on food additives, ingredients, and product development.
+ Proven expertise in bakery formulations and ingredient applications, including experience with a wide variety of bakery products (bread, cakes, cookies, pastries, etc.).
+ Strong technical knowledge of baking processes, ingredient functionality, and sensory evaluation.
+ Experience conducting product trials, both in the lab and in customer facilities, to optimize product performance and solve complex technical challenges.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve technical issues related to bakery formulations.
+ Familiarity with food safety regulations, quality standards, and best practices in the food and bakery industry.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
+ Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally to meet with customers, conduct trials, and attend industry events.
Responsibilities:
+ Customer Technical Support and Consultation:
+ Provide advanced technical consultation to customers, offering expertise in the application of food additives and ingredients to enhance product performance and quality.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to formulations, processes, and ingredient applications.
+ Assist customers in optimizing their use of the company’s ingredients to achieve desired product textures, flavors, and shelf-life.
+ Collaborate with the sales team to develop customized solutions for customer needs and market requirements.
+ Product Development and Application:
+ Lead the development of new products and ingredient applications in collaboration with the R&D and product development teams.
+ Conduct in-depth product trials, both in-house and at customer facilities, to validate the performance of new formulations and applications.
+ Provide technical support for product scaling and commercial manufacturing, ensuring that developed applications are scalable and efficient.
+ Conduct sensory and performance testing on products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer expectations.
+ Technical Training and Knowledge Sharing:
+ Provide training and technical support to internal teams (sales, marketing, R&D) to enhance their understanding of applications and product capabilities.
+ Create technical documentation, including application guides, technical papers, and case studies, to support the sales and marketing teams in promoting the company’s products.
+ Lead internal and customer-facing seminars and workshops to keep stakeholders informed of new developments in ingredients and applications.
+ Market and Trend Analysis:
+ Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and emerging customer needs in the sector, particularly in food ingredient applications.
+ Conduct research on current product trends, such as gluten-free, clean label, and plant-based solutions, to guide product innovation and application strategies.
+ Collaborate with marketing and product management to help shape product development strategies based on customer feedback and market insights.
+ Cross-functional Collaboration:
+ Work closely with the R&D and production teams to ensure successful transfer of bakery applications from the lab to the production scale.
+ Ensure all product formulations and applications comply with food safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
+ Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical insights during customer presentations and product demonstrations.
+ Documentation and Reporting:
+ Maintain detailed records of product trials, customer interactions, feedback, and application performance.
+ Provide regular reports to senior management on the status of ongoing projects, customer feedback, and market trends.
+ Contribute to the creation of regulatory documentation, ensuring that all products comply with relevant industry and safety standards.
+ Maintains a safe work environment.
+ Performs job functions safely at all times.
+ Participates in all safety meetings.
+ Communicates all concerns or violations to appropriate manager(s) immediately.
+ Uses the proper Personal Protective Equipment when performing work duties. Employee wears the proper shoes, glasses, gloves, ear protection, etc.
+ Employee is properly attired to perform their job safely (no loose-fitting clothes, unsafe jewelry, etc.).
+ Disposes of waste properly.
+ Abides by all local, state, and Federal laws; reads, understands, and agrees to follow the policies outlined in the Company Safety Manual and Company Handbook.
