Main Ingredients of the Job
As a US FOODS® Backhaul Driver you will be operating a tractor-trailer traveling Over The Road, across the country to 3-7 Vendors and US FOODS® distribution centers throughout the week to pick up and drop off bulk products. Our Backhaul Drivers will be driving 1800 to 3400 miles per week focused on safety. Your efforts are the foundation that defines US FOODS® success based on our pillars of cultural beliefs, work ethic, collaborative spirit, and service.
Schedule ** Must be willing to travel 5 days per week! Leave out on Sunday’s return home on Thursdays**
Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place them in designated customer storage areas
Verify the accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required
Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift) required
What You Bring to the Table
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
A Minimum of six months of commercial driving experience or three months of commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required
Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
Willing to travel 5 days per week
Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and enter information on reports and records

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is $25.65/hr plus component pay.
As applicable, this role will also receive component pay. $51.76 per trip, $0.6259 cents per mile, $6.87 drop and hook, plus time and one half for all hours worked over 40 hours in a workweek.
