Backend Software Developer - IBM Security
**Introduction** Responsibilities: • Design and implement secure, reliable backend services using Java, Go, or Python • Collaborate with DevSecOps and QA teams to build CI/CD pipelines and automated test harnesses • Integrate with internal IBM platforms such as Secrets Manager, IAM, and Key Protect • Participate in agile planning, code reviews, and security design assessments • Investigate and resolve production issues with focus on root cause and preventative measures • Write technical documentation, APIs, and maintain internal design specs **Your role and responsibilities** We’re looking for a backend-focused software developer with a strong foundation in building and operating modern distributed systems. As part of IBM Security’s engineering team, you’ll contribute to the core services that power IBM’s enterprise security offerings—ranging from identity and access management to threat detection and secrets management. This is a hands-on role focused on secure, scalable systems built on open standards and cloud-native technologies. You’ll work alongside security researchers, product architects, and platform engineers to deliver high-quality, resilient backend services. **Required technical and professional expertise** • 2-5 years of backend software development experience • Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java, Go, Python) • Familiarity with micro-service architecture, RESTful APIs, and container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker) • Understanding of authentication/authorization concepts (OAuth, OIDC, LDAP, SAML) • Strong grasp of secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tools **Preferred technical and professional experience** • Exposure to IBM Cloud, Red Hat OpenShift, or similar platforms • Experience with Kafka, Postgres, Redis, or similar data services • AI/ML algorithms, frameworks, data modeling • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, ISO 27001) • Agile project management tools (Monday.com IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
