CTG is seeking to fill a Backend Engineer (Mid-Level) opening for our client. Location: Remote Duration: Ongoing Contract Duties: Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using PHP8.x frameworks (Laravel, Symfony). Implement, optimize, and manage relational databases (MySQL/MariaDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL). Participate in the full software development lifecycle including planning, implementation, testing, code reviews, QA, deployment, and monitoring. Build and maintain RESTful APIs adhering to best practices. Work with search technologies such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Solr. Deploy, scale, and manage applications using AWS services (EC2, ECS, RDS, Lambda, S3, SQS). Monitor and troubleshoot applications using observability, APM, and alerting tools (Sentry, Sumologic, Datadog, New Relic). Develop and manage containerized applications with Docker, GitLab, and Terraform. Implement caching solutions (Redis, SingleStore, Memcached). Utilize Git-based workflows with CI/CD pipelines for development and deployment. Build and maintain ETL pipelines (Apache Airflow). Ensure adherence to security best practices for backend systems and data protection. Skills: PHP8.x (Laravel, Symfony) Relational Databases (MySQL/MariaDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) RESTful API Design AWS (EC2, ECS, RDS, Lambda, S3, SQS) Elasticsearch/OpenSearch/Solr Docker, GitLab, Terraform Redis, SingleStore, Memcached Apache Airflow Git and CI/CD pipelines Application monitoring tools (Sentry, Sumologic, Datadog, New Relic) Strong understanding of secure development practices Good to Have: Cloudflare edge computing (Workers, Containers, CDN) AI/ML integration in production systems Laravel Octane and Swoole Experience with React or other frontend frameworks Experience: 2+ years professional server-side development experience with PHP8.x. 2+ years working with relational databases. Proven experience in backend systems architecture, development, and deployment. Experience in cloud environments and containerized applications. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). The expected base salary for this position ranges from $80K to $90K. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
