AVP/Director Risk Management

Position Responsibilities:

Enterprise Risk Management:

Support the CRO in developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective enterprise risk management framework.

Support the CRO in the maintenance and update of risk management policies, processes and systems to ensure that Manulife Singapore operates within MFC’s Enterprise Risk Management framework and all global risk policies

Assist in identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risks across the organization.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management processes into organizational strategies and objectives.

Operational Risk Management:

Lead and manage the Operational Risk Management Team of two to four team members

Develop and execute operational risk management strategies and initiatives.

Monitor and assess operational risks, implementing controls to mitigate identified risks.

Conduct regular risk assessments and reviews, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Executive Risk Committee Management:

Manage the executive risk committee, including setting agendas, preparing materials, facilitating discussions, and documenting meeting outcomes.

Ensure that the committee effectively addresses and prioritizes key risk issues facing the organization.

Collaborate with committee members to follow up on action items and decisions.

Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Operational Risk Management Team.

Foster a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement within the team and the broader organization.

Mentor and develop team members, promoting their professional growth and enhancing their risk management capabilities.

Communication:

Communicate risk-related information effectively to stakeholders including regulators at all levels.

Facilitate training and workshops to educate employees on risk management best practices.

Compliance and Governance:

Ensure adherence to relevant risk management standards, regulations, and industry best practices.

Collaborate with compliance and audit teams to address any risk management findings or recommendations.

Support the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.

Leadership and Team Development:

Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Operational Risk Management Team.

Foster a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement within the team and the broader organization.

Mentor and develop team members, promoting their professional growth and enhancing their risk management capabilities.

Communication:

Communicate risk-related information effectively to stakeholders including regulators at all levels.

Facilitate training and workshops to educate employees on risk management best practices.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in risk management or a related field.

Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.

Strong knowledge of enterprise and operational risk management frameworks and practices.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex risk-related information to diverse stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence senior management and executive committees.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) are highly desirable.

Experience in the financial services industry, with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
