AVP, State & Local Insurance Tax

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced State and Local Insurance Tax Professional to join our team.  In this role, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with all state and local insurance premium tax laws and planning to ensure we pay the right amount of tax at the right time for Chubb’s US insurance companies. You will be analyzing and interpreting complex tax laws and regulations pertaining to insurance companies, ensuring accurate state and local tax filings, managing, and resolving tax controversies and importantly provide guidance to internal business partners and external service providers. 

Please note: We prefer this person to be located on the East Coast (Philadelphia, Whitehouse Station, Jersey City, New York City). However, we're open to this person being anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities:

Provide state and local premium tax consultation regarding technical filing requirements supporting the internal business partners  Oversee preparation and review of the premium tax returns prepared by third-party firm, ensuring all compliance and payment requirements are met timely and accurately   Develop and implement strategies to ensure the Chubb insurance companies are paying the right amount of premium taxes Collaborate with other Chubb tax professionals on the linkage between premium tax and other state and local taxes to ensure coordination and appropriate planning is executed  Manage tax controversies that arise in relation to state and local premium taxes. Coordinate responses to the tax auditors’ inquiries with the appropriate input from tax and business partners and, if necessary, external advisors. Stay up-to-date and well-versed with current state and local tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.  Interpret complex tax laws and regulations specific to insurance companies, and effectively communicate their implications  Conduct research to pro-actively identify potential risks or opportunities.  Make resulting recommendations to improve Chubb’s tax position, as appropriate Provide a review and analysis of the tax provision for premium taxes Manage tax staff and external partners in the preparation of tax matters listed above Minimum 10 years’ experience in State and Local Taxation in a public accounting firm and/or in a large corporate settingBachelor’s degree in accounting or financeCPA or advanced degree a plusInsurance premium tax experience requiredStrong leadership and management skillsStrong research and problem-solving skillsProficient in MS Office; Experience with PeopleSoft GL and Corptax preferred

The pay range for the role is $112K to $190K. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.  Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our on our careers website.  The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
