AVP, Senior Risk Specialist, Resilience

The Chubb Risk Consulting Senior Resilience Specialist is responsible for leading risk consulting in Physical Risk Mitigation and Adaptation strategies related to Climate Risk and Natural Hazards for both internal and external clients. This role supports Chubb’s Property underwriting strategies by applying natural hazards and climate change data to develop actionable risk improvement recommendations for infrastructure and physical assets.

Key responsibilities include delivering specialized Climate Risk and Resilience Reports, engaging with businesses, and collaborating with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) staff to implement resilience solutions. The role involves developing and managing industry-leading climate resilience and adaptation products, including scenario analysis, and requires knowledge of regulatory efforts and environmental policies.

The specialist will lead Climate Change Risk initiatives with Chubb business partners, necessitating expertise in natural hazards risk assessment, climate change risk models, building hardening, cost estimation, and emergency response planning.

Responsibilities:

Lead efforts in climate risk and natural hazards resiliency, focusing on perils such as floods, wildfires, hail, windstorms, and hurricanes. This includes climate change projections, resilience planning, and both physical and operational resilience concepts, with responsibilities spanning various underwriting partners.Develop and lead a team of climate change risk experts to create new products at scale. This includes risk assessment, client service deliverables, building hardening cost estimates, and fee-based products like Climate Risk & Resilience Reports, Adaptation and Hardening, Costing/ROI, Scenario Analysis, and Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) for floods, severe convective storms (SCS), and wildfires.Serve as the senior expert in climate risk and natural hazards mitigation, ensuring quality control over responsibilities and deliverables.Act as the main authority on natural hazards technical knowledge, leading risk consulting strategies around natural hazards and climate change in alignment with underwriting approaches.Lead and enhance climate change products and capabilities using established scenario analysis frameworks, such as TCFD.Collaborate with Chubb and vendor catastrophe modeling teams to develop, support, and scale new climate change modeling capabilities for new engineering risk products.Assist underwriting in developing improved terms and conditions related to building hardening and mitigation improvements.Develop cost estimating and ROI capabilities for clients implementing hardening and adaptation features at specific locations.Manage complex natural hazards-based referral work for underwriting, including commercial insurance and major accounts property.Provide expertise in developing and supporting emergency response plans for natural catastrophes like floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and SCS.Refine routine field risk assessments and improve efficiencies using Chubb and industry loss data, in collaboration with the CoE Leadership Team.Author internal and external white papers and advocate for marketing content and opportunities related to Resilience, Climate Change, Natural Hazards, and Emergency Response Planning.10+ years of experience in property, business interruption/BCP, and natural hazards risk management.Strategic leadership skills with adaptability to technology and innovative risk management.Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Earth/Natural Sciences, or Environmental Policy preferred. Possession of relevant professional designations or certifications in the field, which demonstrate expertise and commitment to ongoing professional development.Experience in managing or leading risk management teams.Ability to influence business strategies and lead teams through change.Proven success in coaching and developing diverse teams.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making ability.Expertise in Property business areas and executing complex underwriting strategies.Experience in influencing or managing others.Candidates must possess the following qualifications to be considered:Advanced expertise in Property business areasDirect experience in executing complex Property underwriting strategiesPrevious experience in influencing or managing others

 

The pay range for the role is $141,300 to $240,100. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
