The AVP, Risk Consulting is responsible for all aspects of analyzing potential financial impacts at a per-policy level of asbestos, environmental, other long-term exposure, and other complex claims with guidance from, and reporting to, Brandywine’s SVP Risk Consulting.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Create Excel models to help assess risk-weighted exposure to Chubb policies for a given claim based on different potentially-applicable damages values, trigger and allocation rules, coverage defenses, and other related parameters. Advise claim teams and management on modeling results for a given claim, including identifying which parameter(s) most significantly affect Chubb’s potential exposure. Calculate carriers’ respective % shares for cost-share agreements under potentially-applicable allocation rules, and evaluate and advise on the potential financial impact to Chubb of same. Review, evaluate, and critique models, settlement proposals, and allocation proposals from counterparties, and present results of that analysis to claim teams and management. As necessary, interface with counterparties’ modelers to better understand and evaluate the parameters used in their modeling and the basis therefor. Assist claim teams and management by providing strategic analysis input for resolving coverage disputes. Review for accuracy draft allocations and other calculations prepared by claim handlers and/or counsel. Using a pre-packaged program, create graphic coverage charts. Respond to internal requests for information from management, reinsurers, auditors, etc. Prepare timely and accurate reports regarding work performed. Provide the highest levels of service to Chubb business partners. Mentor/assist colleagues, and otherwise share technical expertise with other members of staff.  Identify opportunities to enhance operations and more effectively achieve Brandywine’s organizational objectives, and communicate the same in a constructive and positive manner. Some travel may be required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

High degree of technical competence with Excel, particularly writing complex formulae. Strong analytical skills. 4-year college degree. Degree in law, actuarial science, or accounting/finance preferred.

 DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High degree of experience in insurance coverage, preferably in the areas of asbestos, environmental, and other long-tail claims.      Superior oral and written communication skills. Organization and time management skills. Experience in a work environment that required collaboration across work groups. Working knowledge of using Visual Basic to create macros in Excel. Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office utilities.
