AVP, Power Generation Lead Account Engineer

The primary focus of this position is to provide Property and Boiler & Machinery (B&M) risk assessment reviews for Chubb’s Major Accounts Property (MAP) Natural Resources division. The candidate will perform property and B&M reviews of accounts that focus on thermal, traditional, and renewable power generation, along with alternative fuels production. This position will also be responsible for providing technical consultation and establishing written guidelines for risk evaluations being completed across our North America field network in support of Chubb’s Commercial Insurance division. Job activities will include conducting on-site loss control evaluations, coordinating service deliverables, supporting Underwriting directives, and providing innovative solutions to elevate Chubb Risk Consulting’s value proposition. The position will report to the VP, Industry Practice Leader, Natural Resources.

Travel: 15+% of the time

This role can sit anywhere throughout the United States, but Boston, MA; Houston, TX; or Dallas, TX are preferred locations.

Responsibilities                                                                                                                            

Perform property and B&M risk assessments of single-site and multi-location current and prospective policyholders in support of MAP Natural Resources for a variety of thermal and renewable power generation occupancies (natural gas, steam, coal, ethanol, biofuels, solar, wind, BESS, etc.) Conduct desktop evaluations based on third party (carrier, broker, IE, etc.) engineering reports in conjunction with performing independent research to summarize key issues for underwriting and offer insight on policy terms based on risk characteristics. On-site visits will be required as neededEngage in direct client/policyholder survey and service interaction when and where necessary to procure, support and retain profitable business across Chubb operating divisionsLiaise with North America Underwriting Natural Resources Industry Practice Leaders in Chubb Major Accounts and Commercial Insurance to establish agreed upon Risk Consulting business priorities. Support other Chubb divisions who focus on Power Generation, including Chubb Bermuda, on an as-need basisDevelop and train field risk engineers who conduct multi-line surveys and service throughout North America, focusing on unique Power Generation occupancies, primarily focused on Renewable Power (e.g. solar, wind, and BESS)Manage and support Chubb’s Dams & Impoundments risk assessment program in conjunction with Chubb Risk Consulting’s (CRC) Natural Resources Industry Practice Leader. Create, manage, and update technical subject matter including internal guidelines and resources in conjunction with CRC Natural Resources Industry Practice leaderManage Commercial Insurance Power Generation risk evaluation Quality Assurance (QA) process for ensuring consistent report and service qualityCreate externally facing thought leadership guidancePerform project research in support of Power Generation underwriting and claimsMinimum 10 years of Power Generation risk engineering/loss prevention experienceFour-year college degree with major in Safety & Health, Sciences, or Engineering Professional designations or certifications (i.e. Certified Safety Professional, Certified Fire Protection Specialist).Dedicated Power Generation expertise and proven track record for surveying and servicing multi-line (property and B&M) risk assessments and service deliverables. Superior understanding of B&M critical risk factors, along with ability to conduct fire protection reviews and natural catastrophe modeling. Experience with establishing loss estimates within a variety of occupancies (e.g. NLE, PML, MFL)Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as an established capability in public speaking to deliver training to personnel and business partners. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions, concentrating on high priority issues as needed and in a timely manner.Demonstrated success with developing, implementing, and executing strategies, procedures, guidelines and service plans.Thorough understanding of Risk Engineering operations, techniques, loss prevention principles and standards, industrial operations, and insurance related activities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. A working knowledge of SharePoint and Access preferred.

 

The pay range for the role is $141,300 to $240,100. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
