Overview Astrion is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Avionics Project Engineer in our Los Angeles Space Force Base in El Segundo, CA. The team supports Space Systems Command (SSC) launch vehicles to perform reliably over the system’s mission life. The team mission is to deliver technical assessments to assure SSC space systems’ mission success in support of the joint warfighter and the nation, and support avionics IPT by providing technical assistance around launch vehicle avionics hardware systems. Responsibilities/'Duties Support Launch Service Provider certification activities such as launch vehicle avionics system assessments, component analysis, architecture verification, and cost/technical/schedule/performance Perform and support systems engineering functions such as requirements definition, design review, test review, risk management, pedigree, hardware acceptance, verification, operations, anomaly resolution, and post-flight analyses. Plan, coordinate, brief, support Engineer Review Boards, program reviews, and other meetings. Develop qualification and acceptance test audit plans and checklists and conduct audits Perform technical and engineering data management, such as data mining and reporting. Prepare weekly and other written evaluations and reports of a technical nature. Requirements Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or STEM field 8+ years avionics and software systems engineering, technical program management, or other related experience 8+ years of AATS, Launch/Range, NRO, DoD, NASA or industry equivalent launch or space systems project engineering experience Knowledge/experience with LV avionics systems (flight computer, navigation, communication, engine control, data acquisition, power, telemetry, attitude control, range safety, etc.), avionics system design, analysis/evaluation, hardware testing (box, subsystem, and system level), mission assurance, or mission support LV avionics system design, manufacture, test, and operations, including hardware and software development Experience with USSF, NRO, NASA, and LV Contractors and subcontractors preferred Experience with analysis, design, development, evaluation, testing, certification, hardware reviews, mission assurance, fleet monitoring, and launch support for avionics systems Experience supporting component, sub-system and system level hardware reviews, developing and delivering presentations to peers and all levels of management Independence, initiative, dedicated, collaborative, proactive problem solving and customer support. Sound judgment, decision-making, and collaboration with multiple agencies and personnel. Experience with agile software products, such as Jira/Confluence, highly desired Competency in MS Office, Information Technology systems, SharePoint-type databases, and software development US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
