Role Overview
The Avionics Manufacturing Consulting Engineer leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business and is a recognized expert in manufacturing of electronic and electromechanical products. In this role you will be responsible for complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as a recognized technical expert in manufacturing/process engineering, producibility (Design For Manufacturing) factors, Avionics business processes, and provide guidance to program management, design, and supply chain organizations.Remain cognizant of the state-of-the-art in your area of expertiseProvide technical leadership in design/producibility reviews, manufacturing reviews, task forces, industrial committees, problem solving efforts, and design boards as necessaryWork closely with the Design Chief Consulting Engineer(s) in area of expertise to integrate design and manufacturing engineering processes and initiativesProvide technical consultation to assigned organization and to other internal and supplier engineering and manufacturing organizationsIdentify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline are needed or where technical training is needed, including key technology area strategy for manufacturing disciplinesEstablish a collaboration and documentation strategy to assure early involvement of manufacturing engineering on manufacturing process capability and producibility mattersProvide leadership to help focus and integrate new technology smoothly into productionSuggest areas where technology advancements are needed and recommend approaches / programs to pursue, including intellectual property strategyLead / support teams to address top problems within the organization or projects in focused technical areasConsult with and support the Chief Manufacturing Engineer in the execution of goals and initiatives of the CME TeamCollaborate with multi-year product and technology strategy teams to ensure the necessary manufacturing & process capabilities are in place to support those strategiesRequired Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 14 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience within the Aviation / Aerospace industry)Minimum of 10 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience within the Aviation / Aerospace industryPreferred Qualifications
Considered an expert in a specific manufacturing engineering disciplineStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility to formulate strategy for technical manufacturing talent development and provide technical content for training packagesAbility to interface effectively with all levels of the organizationProven ability to lead teams through problem solving and/or root cause investigationsSix Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certificationThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
