Purpose of the role
The role is responsible for implementing Air BP’s global Airport operations training program into ANZ airport operations and for the development of that program for application within ANZ. The role develops good training practices within the ANZ Performance Unit (PU’s) operations through coaching and guidance and supports operational team leaders through the provision of subject matter expertise on aviation operations and overseeing the development and control site/regional procedures that support safe & reliable operations.
Key Accountabilities
Training Leadership:
Provides guidance to the PU Operations Manager and Operations Team Leaders, on the PU’s training strategy and assists in developing the PU’s training agenda into function workplans.
Provides support to Operations Team Leaders in the early development of operational competencies for newly appointed Major Airport & GA Territory operational leadership roles. The role may also be utilised outside of ANZ in support of competence development in other areas (e.g. PU TSAs).
Represents the PU in the global training network and engages in that forum to input PU learning and influence and take learnings and good practices as outputs.
Responsible for guiding and directing Major Airport & GA Regional Operations Lead roles in ANZ to ensure site implementation of air BP CASAO Training program to generate the required standards of competency for our site operational staff. This includes coaching of such roles and other key training roles (e.g. major Airport trainers) to develop high standard of training delivery and good governance of their training program.
Responsible for delivery (directly or procuring such delivery) of identified and specific ad hoc training activity as agreed and authorised by PU Ops Manager to address competency needs. Potential examples maybe: Risk Assessment training, train the trainer, Fitters workshops, etc.
Responsible for implementation of ANZ processes for the development, authorisation and control of Airport site(s) specific procedures and regional procedures, ensuring appropriate assessment and review processes, MoC considerations and compliance to mandatory requirements. This will include developing a PU Training network to improve sharing of good practice and learning from incidents.
Responsible for developing high quality training tools/materials, in addition to those sourced from the global Air BP library, as required to deliver Air BP’s Airport broad operational training needs in support of safe & reliable operations. This will include material to support routine operations and maintenance training but also to support training activity in safety management and leadership and supervision skills at Airport operations.
Responsible as the PU SPA and CoE for monitoring PU performance for the maintenance and updating of the Air BP Training System records (CADOPS).
Health & Safety:
The role shall have Input responsibility on statutory OH&S and Air BP compliance in the PU’s site operations, primarily through the guidance and support on training agenda and delivery and procedural development. Additionally, the role may be required to input in PU risk management processes (PIC, entity RA’s, OMS gap assessments, etc).
Provide support to Air BPs external influencing on Ramp Safety.
Technical Competence (Engineering, Quality and Environment)
The role shall have Input responsibility to support specific Air BP Technical Authorities (e.g. PQA, REL) to fulfil their technical Authority obligations through guidance and support on site operations competency development
Essential Skills and Experience
Strong level understanding of Airport operations, holding detailed knowledge of the procedures and equipment associated with airport fuel facility and refuelling operations.
Strong understanding of broader Airport operations (Airline and airport operating practices as they impact on refuelling operations).
Strong understanding of aircraft fuelling safety management practices (PSPs) and prior experience in a role responsible for implementation of these PSPs.
Technical writing skills and IT skills to support development of training materials, procedure development and further PU application of technology in our training agenda.
Cert IV Trainer accreditation and experience in the designing of, and particularly in the delivery of, training programs.
Desired Skills and Experience
Tertiary Qualification in Engineering/Science or other related discipline is not essential but seen as valuable for any post holder in this role.
Strong familiarity in the operating philosophy, maintenance requirements and technical aspects fuelling equipment. Note: Both “operations” and “maintenance” are primary target areas for the roles training responsibilities.
