**Job Summary:**
CD&T’s (Construction Digital & Technology) mission is to make our customers more productive & safer by driving the digital transformation at their jobsites by maximizing their equipment and site operations through a portfolio of digital and technology solutions. These solutions include on-machine technologies as well as the site level solutions including remote-control and back-office systems that will ultimately lead the industry to autonomous construction jobsites in the future.
The Autonomy Engineering Specialist role will support the engineering workstream for end-to-end product development of automated to autonomous machine technologies ensuring product performance, safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, consistency, efficiency, and ease-of-use. Delivering the solution includes coordinating with global cross functional teams which involve hardware, software, off-board solutions, and overall customer experience.
**What You Will Do:**
+ Translate commercial requirements into a concept of operations and functional requirements
+ Hands-on technical expert for product functionality and performance with involvement in proving ground, early learner, and field follow development & testing
+ Partner with Caterpillar machine product groups leading cross functional teams to define & deliver consistent digital and technology solutions across machine product families
+ Be accountable for the engineering development and performance of the solutions achieving time, cost & quality goals for the program
+ Ensure product development strategy, timeline, and verification & validation efforts are aligned to CD&T and machine NPI schedules
+ Collaborate with Automation & Autonomy (A&A) Systems & Software, Cat Digital, Integrated Components & Solutions (ICS), and machine teams on development
+ Ensure the end-to-end solution meets the Cyber-Security, and Standards & Regulatory requirements
+ Mentor and develop junior staff to help grow and improve CD&T’s overall engineering capability
**Education requirement:**
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Robotics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university

+ Demonstrated ability to take complex concepts and communicate them in a simple manner to ensure understanding of important aspects to customers, leaders, and development teams through verbal, written, and visual methods
+ Demonstrated knowledge of tracking and communicating program schedules, tasks, and tracking progress along with associated budget
**Technical Excellence** :
+ Prior knowledge in capturing customer requirements and converting them to technical requirements while evaluating trade-offs
+ Demonstrated knowledge of completing multiple New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) product cycles
+ Demonstrated understanding of developing machine technology
+ Understanding of Construction Industry Applications, Mining Industry Applications, or related segments
+ Prior knowledge of assist, automation, or autonomy systems in the areas of positioning, planning, and/or perception
+ Stays current with emerging technologies in automation, autonomy, AI, and advanced sensing systems
**Managing Multiple Priorities:**
+ Ability to handle multiple programs at a time by managing priorities
+ Demonstrated ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities, navigating unforeseen challenges with a proactive mindset
**Additional Information:**
This position requires the candidate **to work onsite five days a week at the Mossville, IL office.**
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position may require 20% travel.

**Summary Pay Range:**
$126,000.00 - $204,720.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
