Contract to Hire | Onsite | $46 - $56/Hr. based on skills, education and experience
Summary
The Automotive Business Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing the business office operations of the dealership. This position requires strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and proven leadership skills to ensure compliance, efficiency, and accuracy across all business functions. Reporting to the Controller, the Automotive Business Manager is responsible for supervising staff, managing accounting processes, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting while upholding the highest professional and ethical standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Partner with the Controller to determine and implement best practices that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Assist Controller with account analysis for month-end close and maintain the chart of accounts and general ledger on a routine basis.
• Reconcile monthly parts statements, prepare journal entries, and manage daily bank postings, reconciliations, and positive pay functions.
• Process weekly spiff cash and/or checks.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting schedules, ensuring proper month-end and year-end processes.
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure timely collections and payments.
• Prepare and submit financial statements by the 7th working day, as well as tire tax, battery tax, sales & use tax, business property statements, and unclaimed property reports according to deadlines.
• Process or renew all required dealership licenses.
• Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proper recordkeeping in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
• Supervise and oversee the cross-training of business office and administrative personnel.
• Manage the recruitment, training, performance management, and development of office staff, including interviewing, hiring, appraising performance, and addressing employee concerns.
• Maintain orderly files and office workspaces, ensuring compliance with company standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in dealership accounting, office management, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, payroll practices, and financial reporting.
• Proven supervisory and leadership experience with the ability to train and mentor staff.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with dealership management systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
