Automation TechnicianPosition Overview
Shaw Industries is looking for an Automation Technician to troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving plant automation systems, ensuring reliable performance through technical expertise in PLC programming, system repairs, and preventive measures. The position also supports project management, documentation, and mentoring while upholding safety and continuous improvement standards.
Essential Duties:Troubleshoot Automation System problems and facilitate necessary repairs. Determine cause of Automation System failures and take necessary steps to prevent recurrence. Determine if mechanical or electrical conditions exist that cause Automation System failures and communicate the problem to the proper personnel. Responsible for documentation and communication of all new, upgraded or revised software, programs and communication equipment delivered. Responsible for the Automation System support during off shift working hours. Should assistance be needed to make off shift repairs, contact the proper personnel. Willing to work beyond 40 hours if project implementation requires it. This position is eligible for overtime.Will be available "on call" during scheduled times. During the "on call" times, individual will be available to provide advice, assistance, and physical support if the problem requires. Use Six Sigma Tools for continuous improvement. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with instructions, work orders, and service manuals. Active member of TPM activities, and assist other maintenance department personnel as neededManage projects from initial scope development to completion of installation, including capital projectsMust be able to troubleshoot PLC ladder logic in both Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms Must be able to write ladder logic in both languages Must be able to troubleshoot communication issues with equipment in the facility.Other Duties: Maintain a clean and safe work area and perform all work in a safe manner.Comply with procedures found in SMS Create, maintain, and enforce automation and electrical standards for Plant 78Coach and mentor Automation Technicians and ElectriciansComply with Corporate Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy. Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Work overtime as required. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
