In this role, you will:
As an Automation Specialist, you will ensure the smooth and safe operation of all electrically controlled devices in our facility.
Your responsibilities will include:
Safety First: Adhering to all Clorox Plant safety rules and eliminating safety risks.Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving automation, electrical and control issues through your experience using Allen Bradley PLC’s and software, knowledge of VFD’s, servos, motion, pneumatics, hydraulics, SCADA development software and data historian systems.Maintenance: Performing preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring proper hardware and software configurations.Data Management: Accurately inputting data into the CMMS system and maintaining up-to-date prints and manuals.Network Support: Troubleshooting control network problems and ensuring proper communication protocols.Capital Project Involvement: Providing support and leading capital and internal projects, driving system upgrades, and managing contractors.Knowledge Sharing: Conduct training of new maintenance personnel as required and ongoing training with team members as opportunities occur.Work Schedule: 1st shift 6am-2:30pm. (flexible times are possible and occasional call ins can occur).Troubleshoot and repair automation problems on packaging, molding and processing equipment. Utilize software to go online to PLC’s and determine issue.Diagnose and resolve PLC issues, with a thorough understanding of Allen Bradley ControlLogix, PLC-5, and SLC-500/MicroLogix series.Maintain and troubleshoot motor control systems, including VFDs and servo motors.Inspect, test, and maintain electrical equipment such as motors, starters, breakers, transformers, and more.Address HMI software and hardware issues, including Allen Bradley PanelView and PC-based applications.Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment including but not limited to: transmitters (all types), valves, I/P, positioners, actuators, dampers, flow meters, and level sensors.Support troubleshooting mechanical equipment, including pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors.Ensure compliance with the Controls Change Management System and maintain all necessary documentation.Troubleshoot control network problems. Understand the architecture and parameters of the network for PLC's and Process databases and be able to fix the problems that will arise. This is to include wiring problems, code isues and failed components. Troubleshoot ethernet and other AB comm networks and protocols.Troubleshoot problems with quality inspection systems, case coding, and bottle coding systems.Maintain all electrical prints for all the systems that have been assigned. This is to include a copy at the panel, a copy in the central library, and a copy in a software format on the network.Ensure any modifications are reflected on all three copies and the revision date, reason, and person modifying are recorded.Maintain all PLC programs for all the systems assigned. This is to include a copy at the panel, a copy in the central library and a disc back-up of the program.Maintain existing VFD, HMI and PLC listings and replacement plans for obsolete items.Support capital and internal projects. This is to includes leading projects, doing job walks, finding prints, writing a job scope of work, managing contractors and participating in meetings.Ensure compliance with the Controls Change Management System where non-emergency changes are approved and documented prior to the change being made.What we look for:
5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, electrical maintenance, and control systems within a manufacturing or production environment required.Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to safely implement solutions.Detailed knowledge of PLC programs, VFDs, and HMI systems.Ability to manage and maintain electrical prints, PLC programs, and system parameters.Commitment to safety and cleanliness in the workplace.Teach others safe work practices and willingness to perform basic mechanical work and continuously learn new skills.Technical training or education (2-year college degree or vocational certificate in mechanical/electrical fields) preferred.Attendance of Allen Bradley/Rockwell or other vendor electrical/controls courses is a plus.Industrial experience with automated packaging equipment (e.g., fillers, cappers, conveyors, palletizers) is highly desirable.Broad technical exposure through previous work experience will be considered.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Demonstrates initiative, ownership, and pride in work.Proactively solves problems and contributes to effective solutions.Committed to safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and Clorox safety standards.We seek out and celebrate diverse backgrounds and experiences.
