Role Description:
The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world. We are looking for an Automation Controls Engineer who will be the lead on the technical side of multiple Fanuc robot and automated system implementations in a foundry environment and give strong input on instrumentation that is required for each project. Assists in the design, development and troubleshooting of automated industrial systems, control systems and HMI upgrades from Modicon to Allen-Bradley PLCs, identify gaps in current programming with strong focus in safety, update existing wiring diagrams, and assist in IIoT/SCADA implementations.
What you will do:
Lead engineers on projects that aim to deploy automated systems; Consults the team for programming, debugging and troubleshooting of robotic and automated system.Partner with support teams for root cause corrective actions for application software troubleshootingDeploy automated system applications; assist in maintaining the standards and documentation for automated system applications.Excel at creating cutting edge solutions to tackle challenging problemsSkills you will have:
Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Technical Troubleshooting: Extensive knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation. Knowledge of Fanuc Robotics: Working knowledge of designing, programming, and operating robots for various applications; ability to utilize programming languages and robotics knowledge to automate the necessary operations of the organization. Industrial Automation/Automatic Control: Working knowledge of various industrial automatic control systems, processes and methodologies in a manufacturing environment; ability to design, implement and maintain automatic production systems/processes to improve productivity and efficiency, as well as minimize human intervention.Top Candidates will also have (nice to have, not required):
Bachelor’s degree in EngineeringPrevious experience working in heavy industrial or heavy manufacturing environmentExperience using FactoryTalk View and Ignition SCADAAdditional Information:

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
