Overview
Responsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre[1]authorization, and ensuring the agency has the authorization required to bill for services provided.
Responsibilities
+ Answer telephones and provide excellent customer service to our professional staff and insurance representatives
+ Run and utilize computer reports regularly
+ Observe confidentiality and safeguard all patient related information
+ Provide accurate, complete updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorization
+ Ensures authorization is obtained and tracked for all patients whose insurance requires pre-authorization
+ Is responsible for seeing that objectives are implemented, follows, and promotes agency policies and procedures
+ Ensure all authorization requests are documented clearly
+ Participate in the orientation and education of other employees as relates to Authorization department
+ Observes confidentiality and safeguard all patient related information
+ Notifies Supervisor of problems in a timely manner and works to help provide solutions
+ Completes ongoing education requirements and demonstrates ongoing competency in required areas
+ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ High school graduate or GED
+ Minimum of one year of experience in Health Care billing and/or authorization practices
+ General knowledge of the framework, organization, and function of home care
+ Sound knowledge of health care operations and third-party reimbursement
+ Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) with the ability to learn industry specific software applications
+ Solid organizational skills, thoroughness, and a keen attention to detail with the ability to multi-task while prioritizing effectively
+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment
+ Excellent, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
+ Professional appearance and demeanor
