This scope position will include rooming patients, turning over rooms and interacting with adult patients. There is test assistance with the pediatric team.
Performs various patient care activities and related duties to assist audiologists in the delivery of patient care. Performs both clinical and clerical duties with a primary focus on services for pediatric and cochlear implant patients. Efficiently and effectively performs a range of clinical, clerical, and basic operational duties.
Responsibilities
* Assists audiologists during pediatric hearing evaluations requiring a two-tester paradigm.
* Cleans and maintains materials (e.g. toys) used in pediatric hearing testing.
* Assists in cleaning and maintaining clean and safe work areas (e.g. test booths, clinical exam rooms).
* Assists audiologists in specified audiologic tasks.
* Maintains computer databases of patients with hearing loss.
* Maintains loaner hearing aid bank tracking.
* Assists section in continuing to develop and maintain patient / departmental literature.
* Assists section scheduling/support staff in selected clerical tasks.
* Assists department in ordering/stocking supplies.
* Working knowledge of computer systems including DHMC (e.g. CIS, Blitz Mail) and Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, and Word).
* Completes specific assignments or procedures with minimal supervision.
* Plans and organizes work in a way that facilitates smooth operations of the section and Medical Center.
* Performs responsibilities within the Medical Center’s guidelines for service excellence and confidentiality.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* High school graduate with 2 years of related experience in healthcare services or early childhood education desired.
* Ability to work in fast-paced clinical environment with excellent organization, interpersonal communication, and prioritization skills required.
* Knowledge of computer systems to include CIS, Outlook and Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, and Word).
* Knowledge of basic sign language a plus.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- (BLS) within 30 days
