Audiologist I, Speech & Audiology-OTO(Onsite)(Casual no/benefits work up to 19hrs per wk)

Minimum Qualifications: 

Master's degree in Audiology.

Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

Required:

Certification or eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-A), or American Board of Audiology (ABAC) Licensure or eligible for Audiology License from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. 

Job Description:

To provide comprehensive audiological diagnosis and evaluation and to initiate and conduct habilitative and rehabilitative treatment.

  

Job Duties:

Administers a variety of routine audiometric tests designed to determine patient's hearing range, degree, site, and nature of damage to auditory system and courses of treatment.  Differentiates between organic and non-organic hearing loss by evaluation of total response pattern and use of special tests.  Coordinates audiometric results with other diagnostic data, such as medical, educational, social, and behavioral information. Participates in conservation, habilitative, and rehabilitative programs, including hearing aid selection and orientation, counseling, auditory training, speech reading, and speech conservation. Interprets test results and writes reports on diagnostic findings, implications of hearing disorders, treatment planning and patient's progress.  Determines need for patient referral to specialists. Provides patient evaluation and treatments, employing techniques consistent with age specific concerns for the following age groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric as defined in position addendum. Understands candidacy and referral criteria for implantable hearing technology. Adheres to internal controls established for department. Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Critical thinking. Knowledge of EMR systems.   Ability to work with diverse patient populations. Demonstrated competencies in clinical areas of audiology

Preferred Qualifications: 

Specialty certification or additional specialty training preferred for job. Experience with precepting of students or externs.

Working Environment/Equipment

Standard clinical environment. Audiometric test equipment evoked potential equipment, complex electroacoustic instrumentation, amplification and assistive listening devices, vestibular test equipment, various software systems to support equipment and programming of hearing aids and other assistive devices.
