Audio Engineer
**Summary:** The Audio team within Reality Labs (RL) is focused on creating novel audio technologies and experiences that are integral to achieving RL’s vision for the future of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Their mission is to create virtual sounds that are perceptually indistinguishable from reality and to redefine human hearing. The team has two primary strategic initiatives: Audio Presence, which aims to make virtual sounds feel physically present in the same space as the listener, and Superhuman Hearing, which enhances the capacity to hear important sounds and conversations regardless of the environment or hearing status. The team collaborates with various product, platform, and service teams to explore opportunities in spatial audio rendering, immersive audio capture, audio signal processing, and human perception. They are also involved in developing audio system architecture, experience optimization, and perceptual quality validation to enable enhanced audio experiences that are indistinguishable from real-world audio. **Required Skills:** Audio Engineer Responsibilities: 1. Supplement and collaborate with global design team effort in early new product development 2. Collaborate with global design partners across Meta, feeding back design change recommendations to ensure audio success 3. Engage with Meta’s vendors (loudspeakers, microphones, DSP, test fixtures, etc) to solve issues 4. Develop acoustic test protocols and methods with testing teams and equipment suppliers. Own audio requirements for testers, and certify for use 5. Support and own engineering build success, ensuring the audio system performs as designed 6. Drive and report on build readiness, driving equipment, testing, and SOP development 7. Troubleshoot and solve acoustic-mechanical challenges 8. Drive factory failure analysis and corrective action follow-up, directly and through additional FA resources. Drive root cause analysis 9. Audio system design and production process review 10. Own limit setting execution across modules and system, ensuring SOP is followed. Review limits with the audio team to achieve sign-off 11. Leverage CM and Meta labs for primary audio verification 12. Provide subjective and objective performance evaluation, data collection and recording **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 13.
