Job Description:
This job is responsible for providing legal counsel on Consumer Mortgage origination related products, services, and regulatory matters. Key responsibilities include reviewing mortgage documents, interpreting state and federal laws and regulations, performing legal research, responding to loan level transactional inquiries, and communicating legal advice to internal partners. Job expectations include directing the work of outside counsel on related matters and coordinating the work of Paralegals or other Legal staff.

Juris doctorate and active bar license in at least 1 state (preferably Texas)5+ years of related experience handling mortgage origination and regulatory matters in a law firm, regulatory agency or in-housePrior experience handling Texas homestead and home equity lending mattersDesired Qualifications:
Prior experience of working in or with Financial Services institutions, particularly on mortgage bankingFederal regulatory experience (HMDA/TRID), as well as digital expertise (E-SIGN/AI), and mortgage operations/product and pricing knowledgeShift:
