The Athletics IT Manager is a hands-on leader overseeing all technology services for UNO Athletics and event venues, including Baxter Arena. This role blends technical expertise with event coordination in a fast-paced, team-oriented collegiate athletics environment.
You will lead and manage IT support for NU ITS and UNO Athletics, overseeing technology operations for games, practices, and special events. This includes direct support, project planning, and coordination from concept through implementation. You’ll serve as a key liaison between clients, vendors, and consultants, ensuring seamless delivery of IT services that align with both athletics and campus-wide priorities.
This position works closely with athletics leadership and is embedded in the UNO Athletics leadership structure. It requires flexibility, including nights and weekends, to ensure reliable coverage and support across events.
Success in this role means maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities Client Services Serves as the primary IT lead for UNO Athletics, overseeing all aspects of technology support across athletic venues and events. Coordinates with internal event teams and external vendor partners to ensure seamless, enterprise-level IT integration and support. Collaborates with NU ITS teams—networking, security, A/V, and others— to deliver effective, scalable solutions and resolve complex issues. Leads the planning, design, and implementation of technical solutions that align with business requirements and enhance operational outcomes. Provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and mentoring for technical support staff, fostering a responsive and collaborative service culture. Oversees support operations for a range of IT systems, including servers, endpoints, A/V equipment, infrastructure, peripherals and mobile devices. Manages task assignments and workload distribution for support staff to ensure high-quality and timely responses to user needs. Assist in the administration and monitoring of server hardware and software to maintain reliability and performance. Special Events Leads IT planning and support for UNO Athletics special events, ensuring all technology requirements are identified, coordinated, and executed smoothly. Acts as the primary point of contact for IT needs during event setup, live operations, and breakdown, maintaining strong communication with athletics staff and event organizers. Collaborates with Stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities to improve technology integration, service delivery, and attendee experience. Provides expert recommendations to leadership on IT strategies, tools, and infrastructure enhancements to support high-quality, cost effective events. Ensures that all event-related IT services align with broader university policies, priorities, and strategic goals. Special Projects Leads the planning and execution of technology-related projects for Client Services and UNO Athletics, including venue upgrades, conference room builds, and specialized athletics initiatives. Partners with NU ITS and UNO Athletics leadership to design and implement innovative IT systems, processes, and infrastructure that support long-term organizational goals. Serves as a technology advisor on cross-functional teams, collaborating with subject matter experts to deliver tailored solutions for unique use cases. Recommends hardware, software, and vendor services to support future-facing technology strategies across athletics and event operations. Develops and maintains multi-year IT asset inventories and lifecycle plans, aligning with industry best practices for budgeting, maintenance, and capital improvements. Communications
Conducts executive level presentations, product demonstrations and technical support, as needed.

Required Qualifications
3 years of experience supporting venue technologies in a University or professional setting; required Bachelor's degree in computer science, hospitality related field, or equivalent work experience; required Supervisory or team leadership experience in a technical support environment; required Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and/or Apple MacOS operating systems, including system administration, and hardware troubleshooting; required Proven experience delivering high-quality customer support and managing stakeholder relationships; requiredPreferred Qualifications
