Desired Start Date Position End Date (if temporary) To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by 11:59pm (MT) on07/07/2025 Description of Work Unit Student-Athlete Support Services ( SASS ) is part of the Division of Academic Affairs, and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs while working in close collaboration with Athletics. The mission of Student-Athlete Support Services ( SASS ) is to holistically develop student-athletes as independent and self-reliant learners on their path to graduation, empower all student-athletes to reach their academic and personal potential, and prepare them to become productive members of a global society. The staff provides support for all student-athletes from the time they arrive on campus for a recruiting visit until they graduate. The staff provides resources, experience and knowledge empowering each student-athlete to reach his/her academic and personal potential. Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, a city of 151,000. Located 65 miles north of Denver, the city is nestled against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and alongside the banks of the Cache La Poudre River. Fort Collins offers the convenience of a small town with the amenities of a larger city including a strong public school system, various recreational opportunities, cultural offerings, and dining venues. Residents experience a moderate 4-season climate with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. Position Summary This position assists the department by supporting student-athletes to positively impact their collegiate experience, retention, persistence and graduation. This position will serve as the Athletic Academic Coordinator for assigned Olympic sports. This position will also assist with other SASS programming as assigned. Required Job Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in higher education, academic advising or Student-Athlete Support Services + OR + Master’s degree in area of counseling, student affairs/services, education or sports management, or related field and at least 1 year of experience working in higher education. + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail + Excellent written communication skills + Demonstrated direct experience working with diverse populations (i.e. race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, religion, ability, etc.) Preferred Job Qualifications + Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and connect with students of all genders and diverse racial and cultural backgrounds + Experience in the holistic development of intercollegiate student-athletes + Knowledge of NCAA rules relating to academic and eligibility standards + Proven ability to relate well with students, coaches and university staff + Effective management, administrative and decision-making skills + Ability to work collaboratively across the University + Knowledge of and experience working with computerized student records + Ability to learn quickly and effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Essential Duties Job Duty CategoryAcademic Coordinator for a caseload of student-athletes and assigned Olympic Sports Duty/Responsibility + Evaluate academic risk levels and develops academic and graduation plans for student-athletes and monitor their academic progress in accordance with NCAA , conference and University requirements + Meet with individual students and maintaining accurate and complete individual files + Implement learning strategies to improve students’ academic performance Percentage Of Time90 Job Duty CategoryProgramming Duty/Responsibility + Serve as a liaison to the Athletics Department for assigned programming responsibilities + Coordinate, in collaboration with campus constituents, SASS programs as assigned Percentage Of Time10 Application Details Special Instructions to Applicants To apply, please upload a cover letter that addresses the required and preferred job qualifications, a resume, and the contact information for three professional references.
