POSITION DETAILS:
This position is a part-time non-exempt position - up to 10 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $16.00 to $20.00 commensurate on experience.

Required Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age.Experience relevant to the role of the position.Must demonstrate knowledge and/or skill in camp program area(s). Program areas include arts and crafts, nature and outdoor education, adventure challenge course, archery, waterfront, and sports and recreation.Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.Willingness to learn and understand the developmental needs of youth of all ages.Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.Preferred Qualifications:

Program Responsibilities
Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research - 80%
Utilizing pre-written lesson plans, provide 4-H educational programming to camp participants.Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities and lead those as assigned.Apply basic youth development principles in working with youth through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.Utilizing established materials, serve as subject matter resource in the 4-H Youth Development area, and provide standard responses.Implement lesson plans using current and approved curricula and supplemental materials.Teach programs that address participant’s needs and that consider the diversity of the community. Assist in providing established educational program efforts via mass media, as defined.Assist in providing 4-H Youth Development Educational Programs using established resources and materials.Assist with carrying out other duties as assigned in support of 4-H programming efforts.Implement program evaluation as designed.Assist in interacting with program participants to obtain their evaluation of program offerings.Administrative Responsibilities
Management - 5%
Assist in the supervision and organization of participants at camp to meet the intended camper outcomes.Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.Monitor the condition of equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to the camp director.Enforce all camp health and safety standards, keeping participants safe at all times.Coordination/Operation - 10%
Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for participants and staff.Assist in preparation and setup for camp programming.Assist in a variety of events/activities at 4-H Camp Overlook.Assist in the completion of all required reporting, accountability and evaluation documentation in a timely manner.Assist in the daily upkeep of camp facilities.Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.Represent 4-H Camp Overlook in initial contact with participants, making every effort to make them feel comfortable and welcome.Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.This position may require the transport of program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Extension programs and other duties as assigned.Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions.
Support the association to maintain a safe working environment.Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
