Role Overview:
This position performs federally required administrative oversight and monitoring of assigned regional planning organizations; developing, maintaining, and reviewing federally required planning documents; and facilitating public involvement activities for assigned districts. Ideal candidates are highly organized, possess the ability to interpret and implement federal regulations; and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Position does require occasional travel within the state, nationally, and working outside normal business hours for public meetings and training sessions.

This position is located in INDOT’s Indianapolis Central Office, Planning Division.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $59,800.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential elements of the job duties:
+ Administer state and federal grant programs to transportation providers.
+ Maintain compliance with state rules, regulations and requirements.
+ Assure effective operation of grant assistance programs.
+ Soliciting and evaluateing grant applications from transportation providers.
+ Analyze effect of projects on areas using cost/ benefit analysis.
+ Review projects for fulfillment of federal and state guidelines.
+ Research & develops program policies, goals & procedures.
+ Assist with the development and implementation of annual work plans.
+ Coordinate and monitor the grant procurement activities.
+ Compile, analyze and complete reports of key operating and financial data from the state's public transportation systems.
+ Maintain knowledge and work closely to resolve current issues on public/specialize transportation; Presentt relevant transportation information at local, state and national meetings.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Public Administration, Business Management, or related field – equivalent combination of work experience and/or education may be substituted.
+ Five (5) years of related experience, preferably in Economics, Finance, Legislation, or in Educational/Employment training programs.
+ Extensive knowledge of state and federal transit grant programs.
+ Working knowledge of State and Federal public transit operations.
+ Working knowledge of policy making and the legislative process at the federal, state & local level.
+ Working knowledge of local planning procedures.
+ Advanced skill in the use of computers and software to include Microsoft Office suite.
+ Ability to work with minimal supervision.
+ Ability to research and solve problems utilizing available resources.
+ Ability to write and speak effectively and maintain cooperative relationships with local government.
+ Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
