Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Technical Editor and Writer to join our diverse team, working on the Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) portfolio of programs in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will support the Integration, Logistics, and Support (ILS) Team to develop and maintain FAAD Technical Manuals and Program Process Documentation.
This requisition may be filled at the Associate Technical Editor and Writer or Technical Editor and Writer level:
Associate Technical Editor and Writer – Bachelor’s Degree in English or related discipline, or 4 years experience in lieu of degree maybe consideredTechnical Editor and Writer – Bachelor’s Degree in English or related discipline (and 3 years of relevant experience; or 1 Year with Masters) or 7 years of experience in lieu of degree may be considered.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in documenting system software changes as it correlates to military technical manualsAssist in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documentsClosely interface with software developers and testers to document software changesAssist in development and maintenance of program process documentation in compliance with NG standards and proceduresAssist in technical manual validation and verification to include direct customer interface eventsBasic Qualifications:
Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documentsExperience with MS Office Products i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPointExcellent written and oral communications skillsAble to collaborate in a team environmentHold or able to obtain DoD Secret clearanceFollowing are good to have, but are not required:
Possess an understanding of and ability to apply military technical order principles, concepts, practices, and standardsExperience with XML, Arbor text and/or SGMLProcess orientation and strong skills in using and following documented processes / checklistsExperience with creation and publication of technical documentation / collection and interpretation of technical dataCurrent active DoD Secret clearanceSalary Range: $55,600.00 - $83,400.00Salary Range 2: $67,100.00 - $100,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
