This position is responsible for the strategy and pricing activities for Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) cargo moving to and from the United States / Canada and Non-FMC trade-lanes. The main objective is to ensure that prices set for logistics services are in line with tactical and long-term business strategies (scalability, replicability, vertical growth, etc.).
This role is responsible for establishing profitable and competitive rates for cargo moving via intermodal transportation by developing, recommending, and implementing pricing strategies and positions. This position is responsible for negotiation with sales and customer service for new rates in line with trade objectives in addition to serving as a subject matter expert and an advisor to the Sales/Trades Directors on pricing strategies.
Produces high quality responses to ‘Request for Quotations’ and ‘Request for Proposals’ from both existing and/or new clients. Ultimately, the role will help win new business and retain existing customers through rate proposal process Requests, collects and compiles global pricing from corresponding pricing teams Manages accurate and timely Ocean Freight rate quotes for customers based on input from Ocean Product Management and Local Product Management - in standardized, FMC compliant format to Sales Account Managers and customers Submits approved quotations to the respective filing group(s) to upload selling rates into rate management system(s) Subject matter expertise in the market, including customer & commodity trade knowledge. Drafts and reviews rate proposals Responds for request for quote and bid requests Provides proper interpretation on tariff related matters to avoid misinterpretation and/or inaccuracies of tariff information Researches and analyzes tariff, pricing, bid, and contract related issues and information Acts as advisor to Sales/Trade Directors on pricing strategies and tactical Implements and ensures that recommendations have high probability of success and contribute to revenue stream Receives, reviews, processes and sets rates that meet customer needs and trade objectives, directly work with sales to meet their customers’ rate needs within company guidelines, and gather competitive information Performs analysis of Rate/Cost/Competition for bids and contracts Manages timely and accurate preparation of service contracts Bachelor’s Degree preferred. May substitute equivalent combination of years of experience and education. 2 years general business or office administration experience in a corporate setting required. General understanding and experience of the operations of a logistics business and/or sales office preferred. Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Database) with the ability to create pivot tables. Proven ability to communicate effectively with business users and IT organization Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Strong communication and presentation skills Ability to effectively train new users on a system Ability to apply common sense understanding and deal with problems involving standard situations Strong problem-solving skills Ability to combine industry knowledge and experience to produce creative and competitive pricing solutions Detail-oriented: The ability to pay close attention to detail while remaining accurate is crucial in the analysis of large collections of data Experience in CRM application maintenance or operations in support of software applications strongly preferred Proven customer service skills are required to create, maintain, and enhance customer relationships Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds English, Spanish a plus
