Associate Process Engineer

**Job Overview:**
The Associate Process Engineer is responsible for utilizing existing process procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to process and engineering.
**Key Tasks and Responsibilities:**
+ Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks
+ Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
+ Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
+ Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
+ Clearly communicate information, asking questions, and checking for understanding
+ Gain understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements
+ Develop basic knowledge of MDR's business units
+ Develop a basic understanding of MDR's business and the customers it serves
+ Develop basic knowledge of the interactions between the departments
+ Develop advanced skills in the use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
+ Review MTOs for requisitions
+ Develop an awareness of costs related to own work
+ Check drawings
+ Prepare sketches of detailed designs to guide designers and check drawings
+ Keep the Area Lead and lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concerns
+ Develop an awareness of c costs related to own work
+ Develop a basic understanding of the business and the customers it serves
+ Develop basic knowledge of business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication, and marine functions
+ Develop advanced skills in the use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
+ Assist in Researching Data in proposal preparation
+ Understand and follow process design basis
+ Understand and apply standards and procedures
+ Assist in Process Studies under the direction of Process Lead
+ Assist in Heat & Material Balance (H&MB) development for simple process units
+ Produce Process Flow Diagram (PFD) sketch manually
+ Assist in the preparation of material selection diagrams (provides process data)
+ Assist in equipment sizing and calculations for equipment
+ Compile equipment list
+ Assist in the preparation of initial P&IDs for simple systems
+ Perform calculations as assigned by lead
+ Input Process Data on Instrument Data Sheets
+ Assist in the development and depiction of controls on P&IDs for specific systems
+ Input process data online list including design and upset conditions
+ Compile emissions summary as directed by the lead
+ Perform relief valve calculations for simple services
+ Provide process data on PSV data sheets
+ Assist in Process Design of firewater, deluge, and gas detection systems (may be assisted by Fire Protection Specialists)
+ Assist in Bid Tab Evaluation by checking vendor data against process data for simple equipment
+ Prepare simple sections of the Operating Manual as directed by the lead engineer
+ Attend training programs
+ List work assumptions for later review by the supervisor work should reflect some process engineering experience
+ Aware of the Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) aspects of the work
Reports to: Project: Lead Engineer
Functional: Supervising Department Manager
Liaise with: Engineers, Design Supervisors, and Designers of their own discipline
Supervises:
**Essential Qualifications and Education:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering
+ 0-3 years of experience in oil and gas
+ Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable
+ Learning design techniques and analysis methods
+ Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society as applicable
+ Is familiar with process design and unit operations
+ Is current with the latest scientific and engineering methods
