Associate Partner-Investment Consulting

What the day will look like You will act as an Aon Ambassador to our clients, as well as build, cultivate, and develop client relationships through effective value proposition and service delivery. We will help you grow professionally as a subject matter authority. You will collaborate with regional leaders, while being supported by associates and analysts in the team. We also expect you to provide guidance and leadership to junior colleagues. + Lead all aspects of investment consulting projects. Crafting, coordinating, preparing, and delivering analytical consulting assessments. + Identify and develop opportunities on client accounts, growing the scope of existing projects and relationships and driving sales for the Practice + Lead increasingly challenging client relationships by providing proactive and innovative support to clients. Apply good judgment and appropriate follow-through with firm employees, investment managers, trustees, and clients. Demonstrate initiative & ownership of client & research-related work; + Efficiently apply internal resources for effective handling of multiple client projects; + Mentor the team on specific client types (e.g., not-for-profit organizations) or unique investment issues [ e.g., responsible investment, transition management, custom target-date funds, endowment spending model]; + Demonstrate clear understanding and ability to articulate value proposition of all Canadian Investment Consulting services; + Lead ad hoc projects for the Canada Investment Consulting Senior Management Team / local leadership. How this opportunity is different Our team leads the execution and delivery of investment consulting material and advice to our largest institutional clients. And we take a step further - we also drive marketing activities intended to develop new investment consulting relationships. Skills and experience that will lead to success + 12 + years of direct experience in financial / institutional investment consulting environment, + Experience working with institutional clients, especially handling a large block of clients and large client teams; + Proven problem solving skill and analytical decision making in developing solutions for complex clients/business issues; + Able to understand the short term/long term needs of clients; capable of identifying business development opportunities to effectively close consulting assignments; + Adopt a creative spirit in work through recognizing and capitalizing on opportunities to help with growth and expansion of the organization; + Ability to establish self as a trusted leader/advisor. Demonstrate strong client-facing skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and information and to respond promptly and effectively to all inquiries; + Detail and results-orientated; able to work independently on diverse projects, able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet project timelines; + A colleague who can interact and collaborate optimally with a broad spectrum of individuals; + Strong technical expertise and a proven record to remain current with respect to investment industry trends, activity in the market, provincial and federal legislative policies and changes; + Planning and organizational skills through experience; ability to effectively coordinate the delivery of projects and advisory services; + Persuasive, forward-thinking, dynamic, energetic, and focused; + Strong analytical skills; accuracy and attention to detail; + Some travel is required to service clients + Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Commerce or related field, or equivalent years of experience; and + Dedication to professional development.
