Associate - Loan Solutions Group, Global Capital Markets

Loan Solutions Group (LSG) is part of Securitized Products Capital Markets (SPCM) within Morgan Stanley’s Global Capital Markets (GCM) division. The Loan Solutions Group (LSG) advises financial institutions (e.g. banks, credit unions, asset managers, fintech, insurance, companies) on optimizing the asset side of their balance sheet.  Typical engagements include whole loan portfolio sales, private or public securitizations, forward flow or joint venture structures and synthetic risk transfer transactions. LSG covers an array of asset classes including (but not limited to) Consumer, Residential, Commercial Real Estate, Transportation, Corporate, and Equipment Finance. LSG works closely with other business units to deliver a one firm approach to our clients. This will be an opportunity to be part of a growing and entrepreneurial team where strong quantitative and technical skills and effective project management are a requisite.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day execution of transactions which involves coordinating with clients, investors, lawyers, accountants, and internal teams, etc.

Coordinate with internal business units to source new business opportunities, manage active transaction pipeline, and drive results (including Investment Banking, Lending, Securitization, Structuring, Hedging and Sales)

Develop asset/liability cash flows models for complex structured finance transactions

Analyze and develop pricing views on loan portfolios via securitization and whole loan cash flow forecasting

Design tailored solutions for our clients based on the modeling and analytics conducted including compelling business development and client materials

Present model results and analysis to clients in a compelling and concise manner in order to inform their decision making with respect to a transaction

Develop a knowledge base across a number of different asset classes

Qualifications:

Extraordinarily high level of motivation, focus on work quality, attention to detail, strong work ethic, and decision-making abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a positive attitude

Strong technical & modelling skills - ability to model asset & liability cash flows

Interest and willingness to learn the fundamentals of multiple asset classes

Strong client and interpersonal skills, and experience in managing complex transaction processes

Highly proficient in both Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Experience in structured finance, FIG corporate finance and/or knowledge of loan assets is helpful

Familiarity with Intex is helpful, though not a requirement

Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA would be an asset

2.5 – 5 years of relevant experience within financial sector

Series licensed (SIE, 7, 63, 79) or can obtain

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment.  However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
