As an Associate II, (Sr. Tool Maker) supporting engineers in the design, modification, and improvement of products/processes. You will be trusted to identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. Monitors process, estimates costs, makes or verifies calculations, analyzes and interprets data. Tests new and modified products, processes, and/or systems. In this role, a typical day will include:

Working in a Toolroom environment to build and maintain molds for use in Alcon R&D molding rooms.Setting up, and utilizing various machining equipment, including EDM sinker & Wire and vertical machining centers.Assisting molding / process engineers with debugging molds.An understanding of Mastercam softwareMeasuring mold critical dimensions and troubleshooting mold or tool setup issuesHelping set new SOPS and update existing SOPs for the mold and tool departmentProvide training if needed to other departments/or team if vitalCompleting or assisting with technical improvement projects or activities for process upgrades for better plastic mold part and lens qualityAssisting in the installation, startup, and validation of the injection molding or tooling equipment and systemsAdvising and improving maintenance systems (preventative, corrective, predictive, and spare parts)Resolving low-yield, defect issues to molds, inserts, and tool platesPerforming molds/inserts inspections and measurements, sometimes using a microscope, and conducting tool plate setups and cleaningCalibrating with various cross-functional teams across the manufacturing facility

What You'll Bring to Alcon:

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

Preferred Qualifications:

10 years' experience with tool making
