Job Description: Reconciliations Junior Analyst

Shift Time Zone: APAC/EMEA

Exp- 2 to 5yrs

Location - Chennai

Overview of Role / Principal Responsibilities

The Reconciliations Junior Analyst will work within the Reconciliations team to ensure the integrity of custody and cash position data in internal systems through daily reconciliation processes. The role involves ensuring that all breaks are reconciled, investigated, and resolved within defined SLAs and deadlines.

This position requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working under tight deadlines. A strong interest in technology and continuous learning will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Manage allocated portfolios and proactively investigate and follow up on queries from internal stakeholders, clients, counterparties, custodians, and administrators.

Perform custody transaction and position reconciliation against internal records.

Maintain ownership of daily cash and stock breaks by investigating discrepancies and working with processing teams and custodians to resolve them in a timely manner.

Reconcile outstanding OTC bilateral collateral, fixed deposit positions, and other outstanding positions between internal and counterparty records.

Validate and update internal records with relevant transactions such as fees and income.

Handle high volumes of data and prioritize workload according to risk and deadlines.

Support business partners and internal clients effectively.

Contribute to staff training and provide specialist product knowledge.

Participate in departmental and company-wide initiatives and projects.

Skills and Behaviours Required

Willingness to undergo comprehensive training related to Operations.

Prior experience in reconciliations or investment accounting preferred.

Strong investigative skills; ability to liaise effectively with internal and external parties.

Familiarity with equities, fixed income, and derivative products is desired.

Proficiency in MS Excel and basic software tools.

Experience in asset management and understanding of the asset lifecycle.

Knowledge of operational risks and control frameworks.

Experience using systems such as Aladdin and Tri-Optima is a plus.

Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a strong grasp of operational risk.

Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.

Receptive to feedback and open to change; constantly looks for improvement opportunities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Team-oriented with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across departments and external parties.

Adaptable and a promoter of innovation within the team.
