The Department of Athletics at CU Boulder encourages applications for the Associate Head Coach and Director of Operations XC/Track & Field! This purpose of this position is to assist the Director of XC/Track & Field through oversight and management of program operations, home meet management, travel coordination, budget planning, collaboration with campus and sport specific colleagues, alumni and fundraising relations, and provide direct student-athlete coaching support. This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department's Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Student-Athlete Coaching Support: Assist Director and other assistant coaches in coaching and developing athletes, providing guidance and support to foster their growth and performance in assigned event areas. Program Operations:
Manage internal and external program operations, ensuring smooth functioning and compliance with all regulations and standards within the athletic department, Big 12 and NCAA. Meet Director / Meet Manager: Oversee the planning and execution of team competitions and events to ensure a high-quality experience for athletes and spectators. Assist in management of home hosted cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field meets - coordinating facilities, parking, timing crew, announcers, officiating crew, volunteers, coaches and competitors. Travel Coordination: Organize and manage all travel arrangements for team events, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness in logistics. Oversee team itineraries, transportation, lodging, meals, practice schedules, player pass list, hotel and game contracts, and related requirements for travel. Budget Planning: Collaborate with Director on budget development and financial planning to align resources with program goals and priorities. Responsible for reconciling receipts for team and recruiting travel as well as to navigate through the CU expense system. Monitors annual department budget and actuals. Reviews and tracks monthly expenses and spending activities. Collaboration: Work closely with academic coordinators, compliance officers, administrative staff, and other partners to support the team’s needs. Alumni and Fundraising Relations:
Develop and maintain relationships with XC/Track & Field alumni and work closely with Buff Club and Alumni C-Club to enhance fundraising efforts and strengthen community engagement. What We Can Offer Starting salary is $80,000 - $95,000. Relocation assistance is available within department guidelines. What We Require Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 5 years experience leading and managing collegiate cross country and track & field programs. What You Will Need Proven ability to manage budgets and operations effectively. Evidence of strong leadership, communication and organizational skills. Evidence of ability to interact positively with student-athletes, parents, colleagues and alumni. Commitment to development and academic success of student-athletes. What We Would Like You to Have USATF coaching certification. Knowledge of and demonstrated adherence to NCAA Division I rules and regulations. Demonstrated success in identification and recruitment of conference and national level prospective student-athletes.
