Associate General Counsel

Are you a skilled legal professional with a passion for navigating complex trade, competition, and anti-corruption laws? Emerson is looking for an **Associate General Counsel** to provide expert legal support across Europe and the Middle East & Africa (MEA) regions.
**In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will:**
+ Conducting thorough research and continuous monitoring of relevant trade, competition, and anti-corruption laws, and delivering timely updates to business units.
+ Drafting comprehensive legal documentation, including alerts, standards, policies, training materials, contract clauses, and FAQs to empower our teams.
+ Leading sophisticated due diligence reviews on third parties related to anti-corruption, anti-fraud, counter-terrorism financing (CTF), and anti-money laundering (AML).
+ Managing escalated compliance challenges in commercial transactions and overseeing restricted party screenings.
+ Negotiating effectively with customers, suppliers, and external parties to protect Emerson’s interests.
+ Coordinating responses to government audits, inquiries, and investigations with professionalism and precision.
+ Overseeing external legal counsel to ensure alignment and efficiency.
**Who You Are:**
You are self-motivated, you try to make an impact and always act with integrity. You build and deliver solutions that meet customer expectations. You are solution-oriented, practical, with a strong business acumen, able to weigh and take reasonable risks.
**For This Role, You Will Need:**
+ At least 10 years of in-house or private legal practice.
+ Strong communication and negotiation skills sufficient for effective interactions with Emerson senior leadership, customers, suppliers, and competent authorities.
+ Understanding of EU restrictive measures, import and export controls. Basic knowledge of equivalent U.S. rules.
+ Excellent oral and written English, strong legal writing skills.
+ The right to practice law in any country where Emerson has an office.
**Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:**
+ Experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, or industries Emerson serves.
+ Business experience in the Middle East & Africa region.
+ Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
+ Experience with KYC due diligence, audits, and internal investigations.
