Associate - Fixed Income Operations

We’re seeking someone to join our team as an Associate within the New York Primary Origination team to manage the complete operational lifecycle of the loan origination process. The role provides an excellent opportunity for development and progression and includes a high degree of interaction with senior stakeholders within Operations as well as Investment Banking / Capital Markets, Sales & Trading, Legal, Compliance and Finance.


In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is an Associate level position level position within Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post execution processes.

What you’ll do in the role:

Execute processes/functions and/or support process management and project efforts, leveraging knowledge of the systems, markets and instruments that influence the teamRecognize risk in day-to-day processes to draw out the key issues and contribute to process improvementsBuild relationships within team and internal stakeholders, sharing knowledge to contribute to team outputParticipate in projects and initiatives, aiding in solution formulation with a focus on timely executionClosing and funding of syndicated loans and bilateral loans, reviewing loan documents, managing loan amendments, settlement of trades, and ensuring accurate set up and booking of transactions in the firm’s books and records.Risk management of the entire loan lifecycle which includes booking and monitoring of transactions, reviewing deal structures for operational compliance, new product approvals, preparation of reports and metrics as well as periodic updates of policies and procedures.


What you’ll bring to the role:

Ability to establish clear goals and priorities, and address non-standard issues within area of expertise with minimal guidance and supervisionSubject matter expertise in business area supported, client requirements, and ability to ensure control is not compromised to comply with client requestsCulture carrier across Operations, embracing the Firm's core valuesKnowledge of loan product and credit documentation.Experience in financial services operations, risk management and performing complex operational processes.Ability to drive change and improve efficiencies on the team and work in a fast paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.Self-motivated and willing to assume extended responsibility.Strong control mindset and excellent stakeholder/relationship management.LoanIQ experience is preferred.At least 2 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $60,000 and $90,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
