Are you ready to lead a team of talented engineers and shape the future of rail infrastructure?

Our Western & Wales Rail Engineering Management Team is based in our AECOM Swindon office and has an established record for successfully delivering Rail Projects, including the current Rail Systems scope associated with the proposed Great Western Mainline Station at Old Oak Common and as well as the South Rail Systems Alliance renewal portfolio.

Each team member has a development plan to provide a clear pathway to personal development and career progression.  The team provides technical leadership of projects throughout the infrastructure lifecycle from feasibility, preliminary and detailed stage designs. Our clients are many and varied from both the private and public sector and include the major custodians of the UK’s rail network, numerous local authorities, and major Contractors.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Be responsible for technical leadership of complex, novel, and large multi-disciplinary projectsLead the application of AECOM policies and procedures as they apply to technical delivery ensuring project quality processes are in place and being followedPrepare Technical Execution PlansBe responsible for the appointment of competent discipline lead engineers for technical deliveryChair of multi-disciplinary project reviewsPlan and develop engineering tasks concerned with unique problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approachesResolve issues or problems concerning conflicting requirements and/or difficult coordination, providing concise, fair, and clear adjudication following consultation with all parties.Be capable of acting independently on technical mattersActively pursue continuous learning of technical advances, emerging business/industry trends and competitive positioningConfirm that the technical approach satisfies the client scope of services and expectations

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Professionally qualified Engineer i.e.. CEng / IEng or working towards this status.Recognised engineering qualification or preferably a degree in engineeringDemonstrable experience of the application of NR/L2/RSE/02009 standard and associated responsibilities for undertaking Contractor’s Engineering Manager duties on Network Rail Projects.Advanced knowledge of system interfaces which impact on discipline design principles and demonstrable experience of the successful management of interfaces within projects.Experience of working within governance processes for project delivery (i.e., PACE, RIBA) and the engineering expectations of each stage of governance.Previous Engineering Manager experience in varied (size, client, project stage) rail projects.
