Associate Engineer - Packaging Development

Job Description:

This position is responsible for creating, developing and commercializing packaging initiatives that support core brand growth, efficiency and innovation for Mars Wrigley North America. This role provides technical support to troubleshoot key quality or manufacturing issues.

What are we looking for? 

Minimum Requirements

B.S Packaging Science Degree or related technical discipline and relevant experience

0-2 Years packaging development

Experience utilizing scientific principles to solve technical problems

Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities

Ability to work effectively in cross functional team and external suppliers

Up to 20% travel

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of food packaging fundamentals and application to the product development process

Food/CPG experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong presentation skills

College Internship in related field beneficial

What will be your key responsibilities? 

Development of ‘fit for purpose ‘packaging platforms that are designed to maximize desirability/feasibility/viability/sustainability

Role supports the strategic cell core growth and innovation projects.  Also supporting ideating and realizing strategic cell value leadership goals

Develops detailed packaging specifications to ensure quality materials and best value for money on all packaging components used at our facilities, co-packers and co-manufacturers

Initiates, coordinates and executes line trials at appropriate supply locations to confirm that quality attributes and performance metrics are achieved 

Manages packaging suppliers to ensure proper execution of projects and recommends/qualifies new ones when appropriate

Coordinates the creation of high quality prototypes to gauge consumer desirability, influence teams and support customer collaboration

Shares project level information with global Mars counterparts as requested

Active member of the team and supports onboarding of Co-Ops to Mars culture and business processes

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range shown is applicable to all locations listed within the job posting:USD 76,917.00 - USD 105,763.00
