This individual will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, IPT Lead, Quality Engineer, Design Engineering, and Operations to ensure producibility meets the program targets, including Yield, and continuous improvement opportunities. This role is located at our Northridge, Ca site supported Advanced Weapons, and is full-time on site, no remote/hybrid opportunities.
Responsibilities:
The role of the Manufacturing Engineer (ME) is to provide the methods, tools, and fixtures required to satisfy the design intent of the product to be built. The ME supports related efforts necessary to satisfy delivery requirements invoked by the customer contract.
The ME will use the fundamentals of manufacturing engineering to help Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGD) improve the operational effectiveness of the Advanced Weapons unit. This individual works closely with Program Managers, Operations stakeholders, IT Department, and the IS Department.
The Manufacturing Process Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:
Process Development
Developing new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and affordabilityWorking with cross-functional teams to develop new methods, applications, and processes to support current and future manufacturing needsDeveloping and optimizing process parametersDeveloping/revising process documentation and manufacturing work instructionsWork with vendors to support assembly transitionsPrimary responsibility for the methods and techniques used to build products. Focus given to mistake proof processes that are balanced and tailored to the takt time.Participates in NC (non- conforming) dispositions and CARs (Corrective Action Review). Respect 5 day maximum cycle time. Use tools such as 5 whys, 8D, etc. to analyze problems and determine root cause of production problems.Participates in Make/Buy meetings.Participates in CCB meetings.Factory Support
Assisting the floor in optimization of process monitoring for process yields, cost, and process stability and capability.Working with the production floor personnel to resolve technical issues.Recommending and implementing quality improvements based on metrics and data on efficiency and affordability.Provides training and guidance to assemblers, inspectors, and to a lesser degree technicians.Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipmentServes as the technical conscience of the assigned production program.Provides cycle time information to planners for scheduling.Provides direction for floor layouts, workstation layouts, production tooling and equipment. Optimized to be efficient through utilization of linear and visual techniques.Provides guidance on continuous improvement activities. Respond to kaizens that impact assembly instructions.Conduct capacity studiesMaintain MBOMsSupports the production team to ensure on-time deliveries.Design Support
Recommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics productsDocumenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designersParticipating in design producibility reviews for new productsEnsures the implemented processes achieves the design intent.Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree of relevant experience or in process of getting a Bachelor’s DegreeExperience with electro-mechanical assemblies, 0-1 year minimumMust have experience with MS Office software applicationsExperience using Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) Software for routings of manufacturing ordersExperience with Material Review Board (MRB) activity such as collaborating with cross functional team in order to process hardware.Able to obtain Secret ClearancePreferred Qualifications:
Active Secret clearanceProficient with electro-mechanical assemblies, at least 2 yearsExperience in the Aerospace or Defense IndustriesSalary Range: $67,400.00 - $101,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
