Position Profile: Engineering Specialist – Production Print Customer Experience Center (CEC)

Location: Boulder, Colorado

The Engineering Specialist supports the development and execution of engineering design, analysis, experimentation, and documentation for low to moderately complex products, techniques, and equipment. This role operates within a defined strategy and product scope, contributing directly to the customer sales cycle and the evolution of the product portfolio in the Production Print Customer Experience Center (CEC).

Key Responsibilities

Perform engineering design, process analysis, experimentation, and documentation related to proof-of-concept production and media qualification testing. Modify, improve, and support existing engineering and production activities, including customer-facing demonstrations and file proof-of-concept production. Evaluate and recommend alternatives to engineering procedures to resolve real-time customer setup challenges and support production projects. Recommend solutions to limited-scope issues that may impact the work of others. Contribute to projects that influence business metrics, customer satisfaction, and immediate costs; document findings for customer and sales implementation. Support project planning and communicate issues and results to project management. Ensure timely completion of technical objectives within cost and quality parameters. Document work clearly and align with sales advancement guidelines and customer initiatives. Coordinate activities of less experienced technical staff and interact with senior leadership across cross-functional teams. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Foundational theoretical and conceptual knowledge in a specific engineering discipline.

Applies basic professional knowledge of engineering processes and tools. Strong analytical skills for conducting experiments and solving problems. Understands departmental processes and contributes to specific system or subsystem components. Follows standard engineering practices and procedures. Collaborates effectively on technical issues with peers and cross-functional teams. Builds and maintains stable internal working relationships. Capable of basic negotiation to resolve technical issues. May influence team members on solutions to technical challenges.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Must manage job-related stressors and maintain performance and contribution levels. Work in environments adhering to regulatory or nationally accepted safety standards (e.g., exposure to dust, fumes, physical and chemical agents). Must be adaptable to changing work environments, including travel and overtime as needed. Capable of handling multiple tasks, learning new systems and tools, and producing clear, concise written communication. Able to establish and maintain positive relationships with peers, management, and customers. Demonstrates ownership of assignments and meets deadlines consistently.
