Associate Engineer, Explosives Engineering
Description

The Explosives Engineer is a member of the Enterprise Explosives group, which is responsible for ensuring blasting activities are performed safely and cost effectively. Reporting to the Director - Explosives Engineering, this position will closely collaborate with Division Production Management to ensure activities are aligned with the goals and objectives of the East Division.The duties of the role include supporting the drilling & blasting programs and improving the overall mine-to-mill total cost per ton for operations throughout the Eastern United States. Key Responsibilities:Blast Layout and Design coordination with vendors aligned with mine plans and plant needs to achieve targeted KPI’sBuild Community Relationships to minimize adverse blasting impacts to neighbors and the community through coordination with vendors and site managementKPI Administration to include drill and blast activities, oversize production, pit equipment cycle times, and crushing plant production rates to identify and lead improvement initiatives aimed at complete process optimizationDrilling and blasting regulation and company policies compliance Production Process assessmentsRequirements:Bachelor's degree required – Mining or Explosives Engineering, preferred0-2 years Explosives and Mining Operations Experience or Postgraduate DegreeMust be able to pass a required background check and obtain ATF clearanceAbility to travel to mine sites and work in both surface and underground mining environmentsMust be willing to work in all weather conditions including heat, cold, dust, noise, etc.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong personal commitment to safetyAnalytic mindset and creative problem-solving skillsWorking knowledge and understanding of MSHA regulationsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenProficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPointValid Drone Pilots License, preferredProficient with 3D blast design software(s) and integration with smart drills, preferredBore Tracking knowledge and experience, preferredKnowledgeable of mine planning software(s) a plusExplosives product manufacturing and specifications knowledgeAbility to lift and carry up to 50 poundsAbility to travel 30-50% of the time within our East Division (NC, VA, MD, and PA) with flexibility of hours and changing schedules
