Portfolio Project Management is a diverse and engaged group of drug development experts purposefully leading and managing projects and the portfolio to deliver needed medicines for patients. The Associate Director Pharmaceutical Project Manager (PPM) provides strategic and operational drug development leadership across the Research and Development portfolio, integrating drug development across all functions and translating strategy into execution to deliver medicines to patients.**Position is hybrid, 3 days onsite/2 days remote at our Indianapolis, IN location. Relocation package offered**Enable StrategyLead the core team through complexity in the development of the asset strategy, using quality decision making principles.Ensure alignment of asset strategy with approved project scope using organizational change processes while effectively leading implementation.Integrated plan developmentLead creation of a global integrated cross-functional development plan aligned with the asset strategy to provide the foundation for operational objectives.Develop and implement a team communication plan aligned with asset strategy. Drive accurate and timely communication of project changes to the appropriate partners. Work with corporate affairs and investor relations to manage asset-related communication outside of the company.Portfolio Alignment: Lead delivery of a plan that is in alignment with corporate priorities and the approved asset scope.Cost Management: Drive development of a global integrated development project budget that aligns team, functional, and geographic resources (direct and indirect spendObtain required governance approvals for the molecule/indication plan.Deliver ResultsAccountable for delivery of project turning points with quality on time, on budget, and within scope.Monitor and control performance of the overall development project using appropriate tools and processes.Monitor and prioritize risk with the team and communicate status of potential risk to leadership as appropriate. Suggest ways to avoid/mitigate risk and initiate contingency plans as needed.Hold functions accountable for achievement of key development project results in alignment with the agreed to project plan and in compliance with corporate quality standards.Demonstrate independent problem solving.Application/Improvement of ProcessesPlay a leadership role as a resource to the business with regard to shared learning, process improvement, and identification of special/complex needs as they pertain to their primary responsibilities.Serve as process owner and/or subject matter expert for key project management and drug development processes driving (in partnership with Project Management Office and with the Resource Modeling and Forecasting Team) identification, sharing, and incorporation of standard methodologies into future iterations of processes, tools, training, or guidance.Seek and implement opportunities to capture and share learning cross-functionally.Identify and bring forth areas for continual process improvement to team and function; identify methods to decrease drug development cycle times and cost.Drive retrospective project/process review meetings (i.e. after action reviews) to identify issues and strengths and help capture learning.PeopleDemonstrate the Team Lilly behaviors of Include, Innovate, Accelerate, and Deliver to influence without authority and enable team effectiveness using judgement-based decision making.Model the leadership behaviors put forth in the "On Leadership" White Paper and the LRL Innovation Leadership Profile as well as the Project Management White Papers.Contribute to the development of others by being an active source of coaching and feedback to coworkers along with being an active mentor.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree preferably in a health-related, scientific or engineering field with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, and/or project managementQualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$111,000 - $162,800Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
