Job Title: Associate Director, Medical Affairs Project Management

Organization Overview

Lilly Medical Affairs delivers improved patient care outcomes through understanding and addressing clinical care gaps, generating integrated evidence, and sharing information through omnichannel engagement.

The Medical Affairs Project Manager plays a critical role in delivering improved outcomes for patients by creating, maintaining, and driving the integrated operational plan throughout the asset lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Note: The Associate Director, Medical Affairs Project Management is a versatile role that may support a range of responsibilities depending on business needs. While this position can contribute across various areas within Medical Affairs, this particularrole is focused on global content management.

In this capacity, the Associate Director will lead the execution of the holistic content plan (working with content teams at LCCI and/or vendors) in close partnership with the Strategic Content Lead (SCL). Key responsibilities include managing the Module Map, overseeing the entry of content plans into Adobe Workfront for approval, and strategically defining how content is delivered, reused, and optimized across platforms and tools.

This individual will collaborate cross-functionally with multiple workstream leads across Medical Affairs to align content development timelines, facilitate capacity planning, and manage content prioritization and the overall content calendar. To be successful, the candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of Medical Affairs, proven ability to work across teams to execute tactics, and ideally, knowledge of how content is utilized across geographies, channels, and functions. This individual will need to have strong change management skills as this role is currently going through a transition as new systems and processes are implemented.

Development of Integrated Plan

Lead creation of the integrated operational, content, or congress plan based on an understanding of strategic priorities and knowledge of brand plan, customer plan, clinical care gaps, and integrated evidence generation plans.  Collaborate with development, medical, marketing, outcomes research, global scientific communications, affiliates, medical education/omnichannel, external engagement, congress team, and/or medical information to ensure key activities and timelines are translated into the operational planDrive development and maintenance of an integrated project budget that aligns team, functional, and third-party resources, always keeping a minimum of 8 quarters in planning horizonDevelop a change management and team communication plan to drive alignment to critical activities, resolve issues, and manage changes to scope, quality, cost and timingSupport annual business planning

Implementation of Integrated Plan

Deliver on the integrated plan by managing timelines, budget, forecasts, risks, and qualityLead the team to meet or exceed project goalsIdentify and appropriately communicate risks or issues in achieving key project deliverablesProactively identify and collaboratively resolve capacity constraints or expertise gapsSupport functions responsible for delivery of customer facing information and tactics. Work with these functions to recommend, identify and drive innovative approaches to quickly, efficiently and impactfully share scientific informationUtilize standard project management processes and tools to deliver project goals on time and within budgetIdentify and implement solutions for continual process improvement in the planning, flow of information, and execution of medical affairs deliverables

Cross Functional Communication

Drive the cross-functional team decision making process, facilitating tradeoff decisions, prioritization, and alignment.  Appropriately document and communicate team decisionsSchedule and lead cross functional meetings by providing strong agendas, pre-reads, and meeting minutesDeliver timely and accurate communication of key decisions and resultsKeep project documentation up to date using good documentation practicesDeliver cross-functional results through people utilizing project management, influence, and communication skills rather than direct or positional authority.

Basic Requirements

Additional Information

Position requires approximately 10 - 25% travel - domestic with possible internationalRemote status supported after proven time in role and with agreement from supervisionFlexible work schedule - weekend activities and occasional evening conference calls may be necessary

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$111,000 - $162,800

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
