The Associate Director - Facilities and Operations position is an integral part of the Athletic Staff, overseeing facility management and operations of selected facilities, to potentially include but not limited to the ice rink, swimming pool, field hockey turf, and track & field complex. This position reports to the Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities & Operations Major Areas of ResponsibilityFacility MaintenanceEvent OperationsMaintain all functions of the Hart Center Ice Rink under the supervision of the Associate Director of Athletics - Facilities & OperationsMaintain all functions of the Hart Center PoolBe able to obtain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO)Event and Crowd ManagementStudent worker schedulingPart time employee schedulingVenue set-up and breakdownCoordination of visiting teams and officialsImplementing emergency plans and proceduresOverseeing all outside athletic rentals of assigned spacesAssist in the coordination and execution of conference and NCAA championshipsEstablish best practices procedures to coordinate and facilitate total customer satisfaction for the constituents the department supports. Institute administrative procedures which facilitate the work of the staff and provide a service-oriented structure for those servedWhile under direction of the Associate Director of Athletics - Facilities & Operations works effectively as a liaison between various departments to ensure that services, quality and costs are balanced. Supports the preparation and maintenance of the departmental operational budgets in accordance with procedures and uphold accountability for operating within approved budget limits.Conceive, develop, and implement innovative and creative solutions leading to continuously improved processes. Provide a means for frequent and on-going feedback to the department on the effectiveness of the constituents served.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree; Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience with athletic event/facility management/operations and athletic scheduling at the collegiate/professional levelDemonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulationsDemonstrated knowledge of athletic facilities management, including ice rink and pool operationsDemonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently, effectively and independentlyExcellent communication skills and ability to work as a member of a teamAbility to multi-task, detail oriented and ability to work with diverse group of staff membersStrong customer service with the ability to troubleshoot and handle pressure situationsAbility to thrive in a diverse, fast-paced student-athlete service driven environmentWilling to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed Preferred QualificationsPrevious Division I intercollegiate athletic experience in event and facility managementExperience with ice rink management and operations;Basic knowledge of Zamboni preventive maintenance and operation; Experience maintaining a quality ice surface Core CompetenciesCollaboration: Exchanging information, ideas, thoughts and feelings thoughtfully with others in a manner that is proactive and enhances partnershipsInclusion: Actively engaging with the values of the College by promoting a work environment that embraces diversity and demonstrating respect for the opinions and beliefs of othersInnovation: Performing one's job with creativity and proactivity, improving procedures and problem-solvingMission/Service Orientation: Focusing on service to others and contributing to the College's collective missionResponsibility: Taking ownership of one's actions and accountability for one's tasks and dutiesEmployee Development: Commitment and initiative to help one's employees be successful in achieving goals and growing professionallyTeam Management: Overseeing the success of your employees, helping to allocate resources appropriately and support the accomplishment of common goalsDisclaimerThe description above represents the most significant duties of this position but does not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned, the inclusion of which would be in conformity with the factor degrees assigned.
