About the role:

As the Head of Critical Utilities, you are responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and uninterrupted delivery of utilities to our 24/7 commercial GMP biologics manufacturing operations. Success is achieved by leading a team of engineers and technicians in the operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of GMP utility systems, including facility systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical), high-purity water systems (e.g., WFI, purified water), and general utilities (e.g., chilled water, plant steam). The position requires establishing and executing a vision that prioritizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement. You will report into the Head of Engineering.

How you will contribute:Establish priorities that align with the plant's current deliverables and corporate objectives by anticipating industry standards and leveraging emerging technologiesEnsure continuous reliable uninterrupted service for critical systems that support a 24/7 manufacturing operationIdentify opportunities to utilize the critical systems in a more efficient manner to improve reliability and reduce operating costsEnsure efficient workflow and documentation of preventive maintenance (PMs) and work orders (WOs) and justify the need for additional resources or external support when necessaryImplement reliability centered maintenance programs and conduct life cycle analysis for all critical systemsServe as the engineering lead for sustainability, supporting the identification and implementation of energy improvement projects across the campus, while tracking and reporting progress toward sustainability goalsPartner with Project Engineering and Project Managers to ensure the smooth transition of Projects into day-to-day operationsCreate and maintain an environment where team members experience personal and professional growth and drive towards becoming a high performing teamCoach, develop and provide feedback to drive individual and team performanceOversee recruitment, training, and plan for future talent needsDevelop and align an engineering site vision that supports the organization's contribution to the Biologics OpU goalOptimize the use of internal and external resources to achieve business objectivesManage the budget, approve expenditures, issue purchase orders, and forecast expensesSubmit capital requests to support equipment replacements, upgrades, and other improvement projects as neededLeverage extensive knowledge and experience in cross-functional team environments to coordinate and lead multiple engineering teams and individual contributors, ensuring plant objectives are met while preparing for future expansionEnsure a safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines and policies and enforcing compliance with California state, regulatory, and federal EPA regulationsOversee the repair, maintenance, and operation of regulated systems in accordance with the requirements of relevant agenciesMinimum Requirements/Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in engineering requiredMinimum 10 years of related experience. Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other FDA-regulated industry strongly preferredMinimum 5 years' experience in leadership, supervisory or managerial role.More about us:

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$153,600.00 - $241,340.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
