Customer SolutionsThe primary role of the Associate Director and Lead, Overlay Management is to lead and execute the portfolio administration and trade management functions for BMO Nesbitt Burns' centrally managed account programs (UMA and SMA), including client account monitoring, rebalancing and trade execution. The Associate Director and Lead, Overlay Management acts as the functional leader of the Overlay Management team while also participating in the execution of Overlay Management responsibilities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and participate in daily trade execution including, but not limited to, sub-advisor model trade recommendations and client account investment, divestment and rebalancing involving securities such as equity, fixed income, ETF and mutual funds in a manner consistent with client objectives and constraints and regulatory requirements.Execute tax-related trading strategies such as superficial loss protection, tax loss harvesting and gains crystallization.Act as the supervisor for managed accounts, ensuring client accounts remain aligned to their investment objectives and constraints.Lead and develop trading and rebalancing strategies for complex trade scenarios.Lead and enhance portfolio administration and risk management efforts including the creation and review of standard operating proceeds, model reconciliations, corporate action reviews and constraint management.Act as the subject matter expert related to overlay management trading functions and systems.Participate in the onboarding of new models and sub-advisors.Act as the team leader, to ensure all team responsibilities are accounted for.Support the development of team members through cross-training and motivation.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Registered or have the qualifications to be registered as a Portfolio Manager and Supervisor with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO).CFA Charterholder or Canadian Investment Manager designationUniversity degreeMinimum of 10+ years working experience in the investment and/or financial services industry either in a similar role or within the Private Wealth or Investment Management divisions.Skills:
Strong understanding of overlay/portfolio management and trade-related concepts and systemsStrong analytical and investigative skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentAbility to think clearly under pressureAble to lead and work collaboratively within a team environmentEffective time-management and ability to learn, prioritize and execute quickly to meet deadlines consistentlyHighly flexible and adaptable to changeExcellent oral and written communication skills are requiredUnderstanding of tax-related issues affecting investmentsProficient utilizes investment-related software with a preference to overlay management softwareProficient computer literacy, advanced Excel SkillsSalary:
$75,900.00 - $141,900.00Pay Type:

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
