The Global Data Analytics & AI Organization (DIA) is actively seeking an Associate Director of Data, Analytics & AI (Quality) to lead the digital transformation of our global Quality function. This role is critical to enabling data-driven quality decisions, AI-enabled compliance monitoring, and shaping our data product strategy for quality assurance, control, and inspections.

You will lead a team of analytics professionals, data scientists, and engineers to build trusted and intelligent quality data products and solutions. These will drive real-time insights, inspection readiness, and operational excellence while ensuring they meet stringent GxP, data integrity, and compliance standards.

This is a strategic leadership role, pivotal to delivering high-value analytics and AI capabilities that support quality systems, inspection outcomes, compliance assurance, and patient safety.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will help advance the DIA Organization’s purpose of delivering innovative data, analytics, and AI solutions to support Lilly’s high standards for product quality and compliance. You will drive business value, operate with speed and agility, embody a product mindset, and reward innovation and experimentation.

How You’ll SucceedLead the Development of Quality Data & AI Products:
You will bring your leadership experience and professional agility to oversee the development and deployment of quality-focused data analytics and AI products that elevate compliance, product integrity, and inspection readiness.Drive Strategy with Vision:
You will shape the strategic roadmap for quality data products and AI use cases (e.g., quality risk prediction, deviation analysis, complaint insights) aligned with corporate quality and regulatory goals.Define and Deliver High-Value Data Products:
You will own the lifecycle of data products supporting Quality Assurance, Control, and Regulatory Inspections—ensuring they are scalable, governed, and enable actionable insights.Advance AI Use Cases in Quality:
You will lead the development and productionization of AI models that support predictive quality, automated anomaly detection, complaint classification, and intelligent documentation review.DataOps for Quality Insights:
You will ensure robust data pipelines and real-time access to quality metrics and indicators across systems like QMS, LIMS, deviations, CAPA, audit reports, and complaints.Data Governance Leadership:
You will define and implement data governance frameworks for quality domains—ensuring data ownership, stewardship, traceability, and quality standards are embedded in all solutions.Ensure Regulatory and Compliance Excellence:
You will ensure that all analytics and AI initiatives adhere to GxP, data integrity, audit trail, and ethical AI standards across their lifecycle, supporting a state of continuous inspection readiness.Collaborate Across Functions:
You will partner closely with Quality Operations, Regulatory Affairs, IT, and Global Inspection Readiness to align on shared priorities and embed solutions into day-to-day quality operations.Team & Capability Building:
You will manage and develop a high-performing team of data professionals—fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in a highly regulated environment.Thrive in Complexity and Change:
You will navigate a dynamic and fast-changing regulatory and operational landscape, applying critical thinking and proactive problem-solving to deliver impactful solutions at scale.

What You Should BringQuality Domain Experience in Pharma:
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical Quality functions and systems, including QMS, LIMS, deviations, CAPA, audit management, complaints, and inspection readiness.Data & AI Expertise:
Proven background in data analytics, AI/ML, and data engineering. Experience delivering production-scale AI or analytics solutions in a GxP-regulated environment is highly preferred.Cloud and Data Tech Fluency:
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), analytics and data platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, MLflow, Power BI, and strong understanding of data modeling and pipeline orchestration.Experience with Governance & Compliance:
Demonstrated ability to implement data governance, metadata management, and compliance processes across regulated quality datasets.Product-Oriented Mindset:
Proven ability to define and deliver data products with measurable value, applying agile principles and stakeholder feedback loops.People Leadership:
Strong record of leading and growing analytics teams, with a focus on mentoring, coaching, and building cross-functional capabilities.Collaboration and Influence:
Ability to work across global teams and influence a diverse stakeholder group including Quality leaders, IT, Regulatory, and external auditors.

Basic QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field; PhD a plus.10–12+ years of experience in data, analytics, or AI/ML roles, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.Deep domain knowledge in pharmaceutical Quality operations and compliance.Proven ability to deliver GxP-compliant analytics and AI capabilities in pharma or life sciences.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$124,500 - $182,600

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
