As the division grows, we are searching for an Associate Director, Stewardship and Administration to join our team.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Donor Relations, the Associate Director for Stewardship and Administration will be responsible for creating, managing, and executing meaningful programs that enhance the experience of Carnegie Mellon supporters and provide critical information about the impact of their gifts to the university. In collaboration with University Advancement colleagues, gift officers, college partners, and divisional and university leadership, this position develops strategies for and manages the execution of donor relations programs, including fund administration, professorships, capital projects, and various initiatives such as stewardship and impact reporting, and other donor communications. In addition, this team member will play a key role in endowment reporting and scholarship and fellowship impact reporting. The Associate Director will join a high-performing team charged with strengthening relationships with CMU supporters and continually improving the experiences and communications we provide them.
Core responsibilities include:
Developing, managing and enhancing key donor relations and stewardship projects and processes for professorship administration and reporting, capital projects, and fund management.
Developing effective and coordinated donor communications, including impact reports and beneficiary updates.
Contributing to annual endowment reporting and impact reporting for scholarship and fellowship supporters.
Managing and tracking plaque and physical recognitions for the university, and partnering with vendors to produce such recognitions.
Ensuring professorship funds and gifts are properly administered and stewarded including fund setup, management and reporting; working with gift officers and business managers to provide information or investigate issues including spending/usage and beneficiary awarding.
Managing the collection of usage information and participating in auditing for all endowed funds; responsible for developing/enhancing the processes and technologies used to do so.
Designing and proposing new donor stewardship initiatives for a variety of donor constituents (e.g., professorship, endowment and capital donors) to include communication and other meaningful touchpoints.
Staying apprised of donor relations and stewardship best practices and industry trends, as well as relevant data pertaining to donor behavior/preferences in general and at CMU.
Identifying, proposing, and managing projects designed to improve processes and efficiency.
Serving as a liaison and resource to departments and colleagues both within and outside of University Advancement, and to vendors external to the university.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
5-7 years of experience in donor relations and/or development (higher education experience preferred; supervisory or team leader experience preferred).
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
